seems to be a common problem..it is right behind the rear driverside tire.it is a small black piece with two bolts and one hose holding it on to the metal canister(evap canister). It cost me 100 bucks at the dealership but some other members have tried taking it off and just spraying it with wd40 (worked for some). so its your choice, depends on if you have time or not. personally I had been past due for emissions so I replaced it. Hope this helps.

I had this problem. Ended up being the whole canister. Change it yourself, dealership is a rip off.

The shaft of the valve gets rusty due to moisture, this prevents it from opening or closing. The valve opens and closes if you apply 12VDC to the leads. Remove the valve clean & lube the shaft and test it, than re-install. Usually that's all you need to do. I repaired mine 3 years ago still no problems.

Don't lose, make sure the o-ring on the valve is in place. The car does a leak-down test after start where the valve closes and canister is checked for vacuum. Easy to replace as long as the bolts don't break or the nut inserts don't strip out of the canister.

I had the same problem. First I removed the control valve and put oil inside , but after I put it back the bolts started spinning inside so the valve couldn't be removed anymore.

I ordered new canister , control valve and gas cap from Pinnacle nissan online and went to the shop to install it. Even the mechanic had a hard time removing the canister because the bolts were rusted too much and he was afraid to break the holders.
