A minor update on headlamp modifications >>

I've been able to procure most of the parts/tools I need. One of the most important tools I've been able to obtain is a repaired 14amp (12VDC) power source (power inverter from 120VAC to 12VDC).

Last time, I informed you guys that I was able to fit a 9007 bulb inside the housing. For those who don't know the advantages of the 9007 bulb over the 9004; it's an axial filament bulb that has a 55W lowbeam element as opposed to the 9004s 45W lowbeam element. The pattern is distorted, as I expected. The reason for this is simple. The 9007s filaments are located in a different axial position compared to the 9004. The dimension I am refering to is from the center of the filament to the fore edge of the mounting flange. I'm thinking that it might be possible to shim this dimension on the 9007 to obtain the correct beam pattern. I have some pictures i've taken with a disposable camera, and when I finish up, I'll post pics.

I am simultaneously working on mounting an H4 in the same HB1 housing. I have the mounting hardware for an H4 and its a matter of making everything fit together. I am fully aware that the beam pattern will not be as good as that of an OE HB2 headlamp, but I'm hoping for some improvement over the HB1. I'll keep you guys posted.

Thanks for the update Albertt. I'm VERY interested in what comes of this.

The goal: Phillips VisionPlus H4 headlights

Keep up the good work!

Hey, I was noticing that the 9004 and 9007 looked like they might be interchangable also. How did it work out? So I guess its brighter but the beam pattern is messed up?

Thanks,
Steve

I did this mod on my Sentra. I just filed down the notches in the headlight housing. Switched the high and low beam wires around. (you need to do this or your beams will be totally ****ed up acting, like high beam is low beam, and low beam is really low beam). Plug it all back in and SHAZAM...much better lighting.

This mod works awsome.

If you need help, PM me

9007

which gen Max has the 9007 bulb, if any? Is it still the one hi/low beam bulb? I am still having the problem with the loss of my high beams, with my HID's. Would this mod help me down the road?

The projectors that I bought were just a little to big. Even after I had mutilated the back of the headlamp housing to fit them, both the high and low beam projectors were just too big. If I had smaller ones, I could get it to work. But I do not have the money anymore....Anyone have some projectors lying around???
