0505 trouble code

ok guys i have a 1999 maxima given to me by mom (thanks) and it wont pass massachusetts strick emissions test because the check engine light is on. When i initialy got the car it threw a code of a map baro switch solenoid valve. I replaced the part and reset the light by the manual screw near the gas pedal. now the thing is throwing an 0505 code. i reset it the same way and after about 50 miles or so the damm thing comes right back on. any suggestions thanks in advance.

Are you reading the code by the flashes of the check engine light on the dash or have you hooked up a diagnostic tool to the ecu to retrieve the code? If you have not checked by diagnostic tool I would consider that.

Get it read by diagnostic tool, maybe there may be more than one code. Since this really does not make sense it is probably worth a try.

check the actual solenoid. its on the air duct off the airbox, it says 'boost sensor'. see if its connected and the line isnt cut or have a hole. if all is good, hook it directly up to vacuum. that sensor doesnt do anything, its moreso just used as a check system for the maf.
