spring removal question

spring removal question

im hopefully going to be switching from s-tech to h&r springs. would i have to use spring compressors to switch them out?

any help would be appreciated.

Yes. Well, you might not absolutely have to but you should. Why not when it is free to rent from an auto parts store?

Depends on the H&Rs. I know for S-Techs and H-Techs you wont need any.

(Actually, i have Morgan Shocks, and i dont know if the shock lengths are any different from stock or other aftermarket brands)


You should just buy a pair though, its like $25 for one that does the job.

anyone else with some feedback for my original post.

btw i ended up going with a set of tokico springs do i need compressors to install those?

If you are taking the springs off the struts and putting new springs on the struts, you will need to get to compress them so they wont fly out and hit you in the face.

i would most certainly use spring compressors, unless you have like 3 buddies holding down the strut so that the top plate wont fly and damage anything

thanks for all the responses. i ended up getting a set of compressor from a local tool store for $12.

hopefully the springs will be here by this weekend so i can swap them out.

$12 is a pretty good price, to rent them at Autozone is like $40.

here's the exact compressors i bought:

im going to put them on just so i dont put any holes in my garage wall. it only takes an extra second of my time so why not.
