What seats fit in a 4th gen?
Hi,
I was wondering what kinds of seats would fit in a 4th gen.
I know for like racing seats you would have to get sliders and brackets, and im not looking to spend that much.
Ive heard that 350z seats will fit will the stock maxima brackets and stuff, but i dont know if its true.
I was thinking more like i30 or some other kind of nissan or infiniti leather seats.
I have a 97 GXE if it matters.
Any input appreciated,
Zac

Nice job Flav, where'd you cop the seats from? I'm sure they are WAY more supportive than the Max seats...

I think i am going to try 350z seats. Flava, i got a question, are you still able to retain the side air bags?
I have always hated the seats in the maxima, so unsupportive, and for someone small like myself (5ft 5, 120lbs), i move around the seat everytime i take a corner, does NOT inspire confidence in the driver when your squirming around.

I have a pair of J30 seats in my Max. Both heated and power. Got them when I was working at a junkyard for $40 for both . 2 of the 4 points bolt up, and I need to make brackets for the other 2.

When the seats had the cloth coverings, they held me really snug, with the leather there not so tight as they were before but a small sacrifice for the look and feel of leather I guess.

He actually welded in the RSX mounts.

Did you read anything in this thread or just come in it and post for someone to give you information. The whole thread talks of seats that can fit. You have to custom fit them in your car. The brackets will not be the same so you need to figure out how to get the brackets and seats together.

I agree. The S2k seats are amazing, would they fit in a max? I'm sure it'd look out of place though since they are kinda meant for a convertable. Although they are amazingly comfty.

Here they are in the car
Heated seat switches are located on the sides of the seats by the adjustment control's, but I'd like to run the wiring to move them here.
Seat's came from a '97 J30. The color of the leather is slightly lighter than that of the Maxima's, but it's not noticeable unless you're specifically looking for it. Like I had said before, only 2 of the mounting points match up. The LF and RR for the DS, and RF/LR for the PS. They are in with temporary brackets for now... they work, but are not very pretty, hence me not having pics of them haha. They'll have to do until I can get over to a friends shop to have some welding done. Don't know if I'm gonna hack the brackets from the stock seats or make my own. I'd pull the seats and begin the work, but the Maxima is my only vehicle for now. The MR2 needs an illegal smog to get the reg. up to date, and the Jeep is not very road friendly :-p.
Front seats were $40, rear section was $20, door panel inserts were $20 for all 4, e brake boot was $5, and I also got my SE wheels for about $130 for all 4 with tires. :-)
When I get the seats completely done I'll post pics and info.
Here's what my interior looked like when I first got the car

Its too bad they dont match the rears.Maybe you can find some to complete the swap. As it is, too many different colors going on in you ride, i see two diferent tans, brown and black,

They're close enough. Looks a lot better than when I had the leather fronts and cloth rears lol. All the other colors are from the factory. Trust me I'd rather have an all black interior, but I got this car for a good price so I'm making the best of it. Pics were also taken in full sunlight, which is not very forgiving IMO. This car is very much a budget build anyhow . I told myself I wasn't gonna do anything to it after I got it. Was just gonna tint the windows. After I tinted the windows I was like, u know, that looks good but u know what would look better? Now I can't stop, and this site isn't helping hah
I could have gotten the front seats from the SE Max to match the rears, but they'd be non heated, and the PS would be manual. They were also not in too good of shape.

Has anyone ever gotten one of those leather cover kits from eBay to refinish cloth seats? You could always go with one of those if you're just looking to upgrade to leather, but I'm not sure of the quality/fit..

That is where I got my covers for my Z33 seats. They fit perfect and are top notch, but for 600.00 they should be.
