Do you have the "new" one-piece style? If so, check your connections and make sure they are secure and that the lights don't flicker when you move them around. Exact same thing happened to me, minus the clicking noise. My blue bright light indicator would appear and disappear with the flickering of the headlight, but the brights weren't on.

Could be a bad connection at the switch that turns your lights on, try playing with it. Fairly simple circuit consists of battery, Fuses F53 & F54, Lightswitch, headlights and the wiring that connects all these. Where does the clicking noise seem to come from?

the clicking noise sounds like its coming from the same place the turn signal noise comes fro

I don't have time to really dig into this problem it but may be circuit breaker 1 or 2. I think they are located near the flasher. These circuit breakers open automatically if excessive current flows through them. They also close or reset automatically when the excess current stops. CB1 & 2 protect circuits for the sunroof, windows, electric seats and door locks. They do not protect the headlights and have nothing to do with them. My guess is that you have some sort of a short in the circuits of the sunroof, windows ect. Check the switches and make sure nothing is jammed. Your lights probably get brighter when the circuit breaker opens because then there is not as great a load on the battery. That's my somewhat educated guess anyway. Good luck!
