Quick question about getting ECU CODES

After reading the info. from the sticky I have one last question before I do this to my car. After you have turned the screw clockwise, held for 2 secs and then turned to the stop counterclockwise - Do you have to continue to hold the screw in this counterclockwise posistion? I am assuming you let it go, but I want to be sure. Thanks.

Return it to the original position, read the code, then reset by turning the ignition off, back to on and turning hte screw twice.
