I have two numbers that I got off the struts and they are 29306 and 4259, I don't know which one they use for part look-up but I think it is the 29306. This strut has and open end (looks like an eye-lit hole) and the other is where you snap it onto a bolt with a ball on it. Make sure when you buy the struts that you have the one with the removable ball (easier intall).
I am still trying to figure out why I subscribed to this thread...I had not had an A32 for several years at that point...

The one's I used were 380N, which is about 85lbs. However, without a spoiler, my boot still doesn't automatically open up when I hit the boot release.

Did you mount your struts in the same mounting points?

Also, do you know how many lbs or N's your struts are?

Please dont bump old threads that dont even pertain to your car.

Also, this would work basically the same for your car (Im pretty sure) a few things may be different

OP, by any chance do you still have the original pics? This would be a great mod to do.

Bumping this thread to give members new accessories for the parts needed. The extended length minimum is 13.5” with a compressed length maximum of 9.3”. Each strut has 90 pounds of force (400 newtons).

I ordered the struts and accessories from www.liftsupportsdepot.com

Strut 4529S10 (2)
Eyelet End fitting 8mm TDN622M6X10Z (2)
10mm Ball Stud M8 x 1.25 H93607AW (2)

You’ll need M8 washers and M8 x 1.25 nylon lock nuts to mount the 10mm ball studs.

For the shaft eyelet mounting I used this setup

Name: hanging%20strut%20on%20eyelet%20end_zpshsfrfeed.jpg

Size: 181.5 KB

M8 x 1.25 x 60mm length bolts (2)
M8 x 1.25 nylon lock nuts (2)
M8 washers (6)
5/16” x ½” length metal sleeves (2)

On the shaft end of the strut you’ll be replacing the 10mm steel ball socket with the 8mm eyelet end fitting.

It extends the strut length 1/8”. Compressed length is now 9.2” and the extended length is 13.9”

That is excellent information. Could you post a photo of how you mounted the other end?

I used that open hole that this member posted years back

Name: welded%2010mm%20ball%20stud_zpsms811w1x.jpg

Those holes are right above the rear trunk lining on each side.

Note: that member welded the 10mm stud onto the hinge sleeve to mount a 10mm ball socket fitting. On the 4529S10 strut I replaced the 10mm ball socket with an 8mm eyelet fitting. The bracket on the trunk hinge needs to removed. I used a stone grinder with my dremel tool.

The video travmaximas uploaded back in 2007 is no longer available. Only his photos still have a link.

The 4529S10 struts with 400N don't open the trunk fully upon release. Similar to the hood you have to raise the trunk manually and it stays open. It closes easier.

You'll need stronger struts for it to fully open during the release.

I would try these 49022S10W

They have 547 newtons (123 lbs.)

Don't forget the 8mm eyelets, 10mm ball studs, and nuts & bolts I listed in the above posts.

Thank god this thread was updated! I have looked into this so many times but gave up since there were no exact specs and the pics had expired. Thank you jholley!
