You rent or own, if you rent your super should be covering that. That really sucks, glass aint cheap. Paint aint any cheaper either.

comprehensive coverage on your insurance policy will cover that, minus the deductable. it falls under the "acts of god" stipulation.

and no your landlord/super is not responsible for that unless you can prove he/she was NEGLEGENT in maintaining the tree.

Too bad you're not in FL...free windsheilds FTW! Serisouly- its a law, and crack or chip, you get the thing replaced for free(no deductable, or raise in insurance).

Anyhow, that would fall under "acts of God". Or maybe blame it on the squirrel that was on top of it when it fell.

whoa dude. free windshields in florida? when the f did that happen?
i actually asked my insurance people like three days ago about "acts of god" and they said i would still have to pay my deductable (which is why i now pay more to have a lower deductable)

Been a law for as long as I can remember.

Like it is still a law that in Miami, any motor vehicle must be preceded 10 feet by a person on foot carrying a lantern. From the days of no headlights. No one has ever been tried for it, thus its never been overturned.

Anyway, back on topic. It depends on your insurance company. Chances are, you might have to pay your deductible, but your rates should not increase. My deduc is horribly high, so most damages to me would come out of my pocket. Think about what the costs would be in the long run, verify things with the insurance, etc.

Good luck! Oh, and did your car's life flash before your eyes when you saw it falling?

+1, I wouldn't even bother with the church, unless you don't have comp.

FWIW I implore all of you guys to check with your insurance company to see how much it is to have a "0.00" deductible on your comprehensive coverage. Alot of people don't know it, but that comp coverage is uber cheap, so a lower deductible usually doesn't make a big difference at all. Some companies may not offer a 0.00 deductible, maybe 50 or 100 at minimum, depends on the company.
