Rusted Rad Support

I have a 98 Maxima and the rad support is rusted so bad it has broke away from the frame on both sides. I will post pics this weekend. I filed a complaint with transport Canada and I would suggest everyone too check their rad support and if it looks rusted or weak report it to transport Canada. If enough people complains Nissan may be forced to do a safety recall on the problem. 1-800-333-0510 is the number to transport Canada. If you live in the US you should call your Department of Transportation and file a complaint. Should this be in the 5th gen forum also? I know of a few 5th gens also having this problem.

Yeah this is quite a problem with the 4th gens. Mine broke and I bought the parts and fixed it myself.

The last post has a link that was suppose to goto the thread with the repair info, with the pics, steps, part #'s etc. But the evil thread gremlins decided it was worthless and ate it I guess.

I do know that people have filed complaints on this issue with Nissan and nothing ever was resolved. Mainly because it is a weather/ time issue I believe. I do wish you luck. If you don't fix it yourself and have to goto a body shop you are looking at $600-$1000, that's USD. I am unsure about Canadian prices.

I recently contacted Nissan corporate in the states about the radiator core and they would not do anything for me. That was OK, I really was not expecting anything. The worst part was that they told me someone would call me back in one day and no one called me back. I made numerous calls and finally got a call back about a week later. The Maxima is a good product (I bought my 98 new) but my experience with the dealer and Nissan corporate regarding this issue and others will make me think long and hard before I purchase another Nissan.
