Hood struts that dont blow

Does anyone make any struts that actually ****ing work and last? I want some quality struts. I was under the hood today and I just got owned. Is there anything else I can install besides struts?

A hood prop, a 2x4, or vicegrips.

Cheapeast, easiest, and least in the way are vicegrips on the stock struts.

Buy a cheap pair for $20 each at your local auto parts store. Most have a 1 year warranty. Take them back every 11 1/2 months and get new ones. The aftermarket replacement ones only last a couple of years.

Matco tools also makes a clamp specifically to keep the hood from decapitating you if the struts fail. It's better than vice grips because it won't damage the rod of your strut.

when I worked for advance auto parts they had lifetime warranty's on their lift supports. I'd check with them.

Advice from my dad! Quit raising your hood, and you will have less problems. ( I believe he was trying to tell me that I didn't know what I was doing!) But in answer to your question I just grab a extra pair from a junk yard. Easy to change, and cheap.

I went to every store here and they all carry the same brand and price. On most other cars they don't seem to blow.

Matco tools only seems to carry aluminum sticks to prop the hood. I didn't see any clamps.

This seems to be a good one since it can hold the hood up from the ground.

Oh mannn that's great. My shocks did that once and left a nice memory on the outside of the hood with the imprint of my screwdriver.

Like they all said, strong arm struts are sold at advance auto for 19.98 a piece and also if you go on their website, they offer a deal if you order the part online and pick it up in the store, you'll save 5 bucks...Try it.

No I use a stick I found on the ground. The ones I bought from the autopart store didn't even last a day. Got new ones, same thing...

Yeah they do. The policy is that if you return a defective product within the warranty period they replace it. How the hell can they test the hood struts at the store? Within a year they will be weaker if not completely blown. Just keep your receipt. Actually at O'reilly where I buy parts, you don't even need a receipt because everything with a warranty is entered under your phone number when you buy it.

BTW, Here's the clamp I was talking about. Much safer than a stick which can get knocked out (had that happen). It was Mac not Matco, my bad.
