Ebay is dead to me! (well kinda)

i cannot believe what people are selling these days! let me start at the beginning:

i bought the 4 pc tinted tails from ebay. they arrived and i opened the box and removed 1 of the lights from the bubble wrap; good enough. well i set them aside without inspecting the other 3 ( myself). i decide i don't want to use them and i sell them to another org member. when he gets them a piece is broken. i can tell he's a little upset with me, as am i with myself for not inspecting the package fully. i accept responsibility for that simple fact, and we come to what we both agree is a fair resolution. no bad blood. so today i receive the package back and now 3 of the 4 pieces are broken! believe me i'm at ups too (will be asking for reimbursement for the value of the product as well as return shipping), but after inspecting the parts that broke i am putting a majority of the blame on the manufacturer. i don't have the oem parts around to compare them to, but i've spent enough time around cars and car parts to know what is quality and what is crap. as if this wasn't bad enough, along with the returned package is a package containing some clear bumper lights i ordered. two important things to know: 1) i have had my maxima for 5+ yrs. the first round of lighting mods i did (ce red/clears, dcc bumper lenses) was before you could by maxima parts on ebay. i know what quality is. 2) i spent hours going through 9 pages of bumper lights to find which ones looked the closest to factory (lenses and housing) hoping to get something of decent quality. well i open the box and unwrap a light... for about .00001 second i am happy. the lenses are just what i wanted. crystal clear plastic but with the oem pattern. THEN i turn it to the side. the housing looks like a kindergartener cut it with safety scissors! there is silicone gushing out the side because of the uneven cut. the lenses hang way over at some points and don't even join at others. now i know why it seemed like the bag was stuck to it.

i will probably continue to buy name brand products at huge savings on ebay. i will continue to sell stuff i have no use for on ebay. i might even open an ebay store to help sell my a32 products in the future. but i WILL NOT buy no name products from unknown dealers anymore.

i still have some red/clears on the way (backorder) from the same dealer that sold me the tinted tails (like i said; they looked good at first) that i am going to try and get out of. did i mention last week someone sold me a fake pair of air force ones after i specifically asked him if they were authentic? or how about the strip of plastic that was sold as an m3 spoiler...

*edit* after calming down a little i test fitted the lenses on the bumper i have. fitment isn't great (as expected) but the lenses are awesome. i'm a detail oriented person so that counts for something to me. i will probably fit the lenses onto the (painted) oem housing unless i can find some of the metallic housing lights like i had. sound like a lot of trouble for some bumper lenses? sorry about the rant. for anyone interested:

clear bumper lights - seller: cosmicdynamic
4 pc tinted tails & back ordered red/clears - seller: atomicstreet
m3 lip spoiler - x3racing

i would not recommend any of these.

Yeah there's a few finite range of types of items I'll buy on eBay, for that reason..

i bought those same tail lights from the same seller, and when i got them one was cracked in two places. so since i didn't put insurance on it, i had to file a claim with ups, but months later i got a replacement.

to get them to fit right i had to do some trimming around the out side bolts of the ones for the trunk lid. but in the end they look pretty good.

the problem is they're really not any other options anymore. i would try to do something about it (get some quality parts in production) but i wouldn't know where to start. i'm sure it would cost a grip too.

g4: whichlights did you get smoked or clear?

i compared them to some pics i had as well as some of mine. they were decent fakes, but once i found a flaw i started noticing all kinds of stuff. the stiching was off and the production dates were wrong on the tag, but it was the insole that gave it away. i should have known better though, it was a limited edition of 150 pairs only available at 1 nike store. theres no way they would have ended up on ebay unless it was from a collector.

if you're happy with it then thats cool for you. its not finished at all. mine is also warped in a way that i'm positive it will never be straight. just not a quality product imo. but you get what you pay for. the thing is i woul have payed more for something better. have you installed yours? pics?

its not suppose to be stiff, its suppose to be flexible. you bend it to shape your trunk. its also not supposed to be finished, it says its a black piece of plastic and you are supposed to paint it yourself.
pics: (ignore the ghey taillights)

About the lights... When I bought mine from SouthWest Autoworks, I asked who the manufacture was. I was told that a company in SE Asia buys cheap OEM corners/tails/headlights, disassembles them (which's why you'll see hack marks on the shell), modifies them, and glues them back (which's why the glue/silicon all over). In order to sell them at a reasonable price, they skimp on quality (from the initial OEM product) to the workmanship.

In my opinion, if a mod is worth doing, and financially sound for a company to go forth with it, it'll be done. Take springs for instance. A company can take a cheapy OEM spring, heat them up, and resell them at a mild markup. But a company like Eibach does them the right way, from R&D to production, and it'll cost more, but can be trusted.

Good luck w/future deals bro! I ran into my share of bad apples on ebay and this forum (been burned by 2 .org members already).
