how long have you been running it? I wouldn't worry about it, just do a an oil change to 5w-30 as soon as you can.

I'd say you're fine, im in rochester NY and run 0-40 all year long, the euro cars spec 50 weights IIRC and there engines are exactly the same, but do as you fancy

Forget the Castrol and use Mobil 1 5w30 or 10w30 synthetic oil.

I've used 10w-40 and 20w-50 before. I actually like them better, I get less clatter in the morn, runs quieter with less noise or vibration when warmed up, and I don't hafta top off as often. So nowadays, if I buy regular dino or synth, I get the thicker stuff. If I get high mileage, I go for 10w-30. I'm at 209k miles right now.

dont use any oil besides valvoline and royal purple they meet the highest standards
castrol is the really cheap stuff and mobil is just above that
dont believe me look at the back of the bottle and look at the little circle and c what it protects against

I ran my cars on 5w50 Syntec for years, no problems. I run the Euro 5w30 Syntec or Castrols high performance Euro oil now. I work for a Porsche,BMW,VW dealer so the Euro oils are on hand when I need them. If they are spec for BMW M cars, Bently Bi-turbos, W12 Phatons, ect,ect for extended service intervals, I think they will be fine in a VQ.

I don't understand the 1.25qt 0f semi-synth?? Sounds like you just added what you had on hand, not the best setup but I would not expect damage from mixed oil.
