Power Locks Have a Mind of their own

When ever I get in my car and put it in drive, all of the locks lock like they should but my driver side door doesnt. It sounds like it trys to but instead it just kinda makes a grinding noise. Also, when I unlock my doors from my keyless entry (aftermarket viper) all the doors unlock but about a second after all of them lock themselves except my drivers door. Any ideas?

yeah, that too it is annoying. Maybe we need a new motor for the power locks.

Wait...when you put your car in drive, the doors lock? That option wasn't available on the A32 IIRC...

Locking doors wasnt even close to an option on the 4th gens.....The only time my locks do weird stuff is when the keys are in the ignition and I try to lock them and they unlock themselves....

My moms camry has the locking in and out of park feature....but its a 05

Original lubricant on the locks from factory will lose the solvent eventually and become sticky. So you have to clean it out and apply new lubricant. My '98 I30 is still ok but my '91 Volvo has this problem in the winter.

i had a 93 SE, with no aftermarket anything, that had this problem. after two years of dealing with it i figured out it was because the car was being told that one of the doors was open from time to time. and the locking mechanism wont lock unless all 4 doors are recognized as closed. so all 4 doors would be closed and locked, and then id go over a bump or whatever and it would jar a sensor loose and all the doors would unlock. and then i would go over another bump and it would jar the sensor closed and the doors would lock and so on and so on. basically the locks would open and close at random.

it turned out to be that little nubbin that the door pushes in when you close it (like the nubbin on a dryer that stops it when you open the door). it was somehow bent or the spring in there was damaged or blocked. i think it cost me like 40-50 bux to fix in 2004 (i had a mechanic at a texaco station in vermont do it in like half an hour).

Guys, I dont think this is aftermarket. On occasion my 95 max does just this too. Its a once in a blue moon thing when it happens but it freaks me out when it does. When I get in the car and shut the door all locks will lock except the drivers side door and sometimes when I put it in drive it does the same thing except to all doors. I dont know what causes this but it happens. It seems to be prone to the 95's.

I don't think it was aftermaket or alarm problem... I removed them all and still having the same problem... also getting worse at cold weather...say early in the morning.

I got a similar problem. When I unlock the doors they will self lock again sometimes. If the girl is waiting to get in at the passenger side this is not funny, made me look bad. I carry a spare in my wallet but by a miracle I haven't had to use it yet. But yeah, the doors will randomly lock sometimes..

what do you mean they lock when you try to unlock them?

if you are trying to unlock them, arent they already locked?

you mean with your remote?

yeah, same here. Well the doors are locked, I will turn the key and I will hear them all click and unlock and then before I grab the door handle they all lock back again. I can hold the driver door with the key but the rest of them lock back. Sometimes it's so persistent that the only way to open the rear door is to get in through the front and manually unlock the thing.
