stock springs

i m putting in my kyb agxs next week, now can i cut the stock springs to lower my ride, i m willing to sacrifice the comfort for looks.
Can anyone say if this is safe and reliable (to the shocks). what kind of ride will i get with cut stock springs and kyb agx's?
thanks

Don't do it...

Yes, you are sacraficing comfort for looks. The car will ride terribly and you will ruin your new struts/shocks. This technique is old and cheap, and if you see a car that has its springs cut for over 3k miles let me know. However if you insist upon cutting springs, I believe a few people have done so with Intrax. They can be cut easily and will be much less harmful than your stock springs, which have a much lower rebound rate. If you keep your cut you stock "bouncy" springs I can also almost guarentee you that you will bottom out. Please atleast consider some aftermarket springs or coilovers. I just don't want to see another Maxima go bad due to rice.

The more you cut the worse your ride.

Like 1.5" should be OK, but were on the spring can you cut. That will kind of control how much you can cut for you. You can land around 2" without sacrificing toooo much. You should just get some new ones, stock aren't progressive or anything. Aftermarket are coiled tighter. Then mess around and cut the stocks like 4" for a summer, but that might kill your shocks.

Re: stock springs

Man, you are fronting enough cash to get KYB AGX's yet you want to cut down your springs? Get some lowering springs man! They are cheap. Even the lower end ($120) springs are better than hacking your stock springs. $200 is not a lot to pay for springs. Beats cutting up your stocks and then having to re-do the install later after your car rides like crap. And what good are AGX's if the cut-downs ride like crap?
