A few problems and possible solutions

Hello, today my check engine light came on and I had 5 errors. 2 1325 errors, a 325 and a 303. I looked these up and they seem to be the knock sensor and an oxygen sensor. I think I can find an oxygen sensor locally and fix that quicky but the knock sensor seems to be more of a beast. I have a 1999 maxima with about 120k on it. This morning after the light came on the car felt like it was going to stall at every stop but the rpms stayed the same as usual. Will replacing the oxygen sensor take care of this right off the bat? I just want the car to ride well again and I can fix the knock sensor next week if the oxygen sensor will give me a decent riding car. Will this work?

Are these P codes or pulling manually? FSM doesn't list a P1325, P0303 is a Cyl 3 misfire, and you're right about the KS.

The ECU won't list the same code twice consecutively, check the codes again. Sure it wasn't P1335 or P1320?

None of the codes were consecutive. The car has a kick to it like it is about to stall out. I am not sure what takes priority but I do drive my car about 40 miles to work each day so I need to fix it quick. These codes were all pulled with a handheld code reader.

My point is, the ECU shouldn't/wouldn't throw P1325 twice, seeing past the fact that there is no P1325 code. Check them again, see what comes up.

Where did you get the oxygen sensor from? I see non-existent, misfire, and KS.

You are right I was wrong on the oxygen sensor. I see the cylinder 3 misfire. I was using this website for the codes. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=76800
The coil packs have not been changed on this car. Do you think that is what would cause the cylinder misfire?

What year is it? If it's a '99, then coil packs are the most likely culprit.

You can also go awhile with the bad KS. Your fuel mileage will suck & performance will be less, but as long as you're using premium (you should anyway) you'll be fine with no engine damage done. They're available from flea bay.

Good luck changing it. It's a beaaach!

Also, before you buy a knock sensor, fix your misfire problem first, as this may be triggering the KS code to rear it's ugly head. Once fixed, clear the codes, and drive it for a while and see if any codes come back. If the KS code comes back, then replace it.

If your 99 is a CA car, replacing the KS is a nightmare. I was like this when I changed mine.

I don't know, are there? Do you have any auto parts stores/junkyards around you?

There always seems to be some for sale in the For Sale Section here on the org if you can't find some locally. If you have a friend that drives a Maxima, you want to swap coilpacks temporarily and see if your misfire problem goes away. Only take 10 minutes to do so.

Wizard is right. I would pay for a single good coil pack and swap it out to try to find the bad one before I went after the daggum KS again.

Coil packs are expensive but they don't **** people off nearly as much as a KS.

Unfortunately, you're probably due for a new KS anyway, but fix the misfire first.

I am in Phoenix so stores are not a problem. Are there any generic coil packs I could buy from Napa or somewhere for my car? I don't want to limp along with misfires for the rest of the week until I have time to look for a better source of coils.
