the ones with the lip are the fold out kind, they don't slide out.
the one with the face completely flat are the slide out kind.

I have the one with a lip and my car is a 97, my friend has the flat one that slides out and he has a 98.
so I think the sliding kind where put on 98-99 models

Kinda doubt it... you could make one yourself though, but it might be hard to open...

you could maybe rig up one of those systems where you push in and it pops out(dont know how else to explain it) like a lot of cars have for cup holders

thats how the pop out tray works. problem is i want the smooth face of the pop-out tray, but i don't want it to pop-out i just want the cover to fold out.

I thought they only made the SE-L in '99?

Than again I used to think they only made the pop-out tray in woodgrain

Check out this site just add the GLE stuff ie: power passenger seat, crome grill, leather, woodgrain interior with console large SE rims though

^^^ SE-L is 99 only. Its a limited production 99 with different exterior colors and emblems. The seats and floor mats are embroidered SE Limited. The seats have perforated leather inserts. The gauges are titanium, not white. The ACC/leather/wood is available on all years, the 97-99 steering wheel is the same on all SE.

The pop out is 99 only. It comes in black and wood grain. I had a stripped 99 SE with the pop out. Its easily swapped into any other year.

What I did was got the wood trim sliding drawer, removed the lipped flip-down cover, and attached it onto the drawer so I have a sliding drawer with a lip cover. Works pretty well!

My first Max; 95' GLE, had the one where you push it in and it slirdes out by itself. Both my 98;s SE's had the Flip Down style, but I think tht spring or somethign is broken on mine, b/c it won't go back up by it self, you have to push it up...

no it's not, if you're 100% sure that your car is a 1997 AND an se-l, you need to run a vin check or something.

The SE-L was an advertising gimmick used by Nissan to clear out all the A32 shells to make way for the new A33s coming out in late 99. They added the badges, tinted wheels and gauge faces w/ red needles, SE-L embroidered into the seats and the floor mats, and perforated leather seats.

Sounds to me like the previous owner wanted it to be "limited" If you really want me to tell you if its a SE or SE-L, post a picture of your white faced gauges...

your 97 is not an SE-L, sorry bro, someone may have robbed the usuals off an se-l and put them on it. **** they may have swapped the vin's, but there's no 97 SE-L.
And there's no such thing as a GEL either btw.

THE PREVIOUS OWNER WANTED IT TO BE AN SE-L AND ADDED THE BADGES + EXTRAS.

But seriously, the gauges are typical of any 95-99 SE, not the 99.5 aka SE-L. Good try, youre just an SE like the rest of us.
