I am needing a new rear window cause my defroster is not working as it's supposed to now. Is there any oem glass I can get without visiting the dealership anything that can pass for a oem glass.

 

Junkyard my friend, but do not go with that quick fix they sell at autoparts stores.

 

I just bought a rear glass for my 96 max from a self serve salvage yard for $50. This includes them removing it; they said $30 if I remove it.

 

On another note, have you checked for power at the grid connectors? Did you physically find broken grid traces on the glass? You might make sure it's not a bad switch, fuse or relay before condemning the glass.

 

If you just had your widows tinted, they the installer might have F'ed up. Buy using a razor blade were he shouldn't have.

 

this is exactly what happened to me, it burnt through the tint in a few places and now about 1 or 2 strands work. Why cant the defroster be on the inside of the glass...

does anyone know what else is connected to the defroster that this would effect such as the key fob antenna or something? I know there is a radio antenna in the defroster as well.
