What is that part called???

Does anyone know what the metal part is called that this *the exhaust hangers* are connected to?

cause i noticed it just hanging under my car, and when i got it checked out *cause it was just hangng and scraping the speedbumps* out my friend told me that its the part that goes under my exhaust in order to keep it from moving around and end up falling apart and making me lose my whole exhaust system.. the problem is that the part rusted out and gave away.. so im looking to get it repaired, but i have no clue what the part is called and how much it usually runs and how much it would be to repair it... can anyone help me out here?

the pipe itself is hanging lower than orginally but not anywhere close to the ground...

am I wrong or are you not talking about the rubber hanger but the steel bar it attaches to?? I think that's a permanent weld that rusted off.

well until everyone else starts reading your post correctly.. as I said before I don't think it's a part, just a piece of steel that's welded on.. at least that's what it looks like on my car (I had one break off and my exhaust hangs a couple inches lower also) but I can't be sure, maybe someone else can clear this up.

Check http://www.courtesyparts.com/betasit...1808_1809.html then. It is probably the exhaust mounting bracket.

assuming you're talking about the metal bar that connects the exhaust to the hanger, just take it to a muffler shop and they'll weld some new ones on. should be a cheap fix.

Yeah came to find out that the middle piece of the MOUNTING ASSY-EXHAUST just rusted out...

My mechanic went to the junkyard to try to get it off another Max, and they wasnt tryin to sell just that, they said that i had to buy the whole pipe if i want that part for 75.00 *which i dont need right at THIS moment* cause its actually bolted in the pipe *go figure*

Like Blackonblack98 said, i told him to see if he can weld a piece onto it or a strap or somethin to hold it up cause i have to make this trip to Tennessee on Thursday for my brothers wedding.. and im already tapped out of money for it..

i was told that basically without it, that all the pressure of the pipe hanging is now on the flex pipe (im guessing thats the part of the y-pipe that looks like a Woven basket) and if that breaks then im screwed.. *yikes*

so hopefully i can get the welding done tomorrow while im at work...

I have part #20762 (from the drawing above) that is left over from when I installed a trailer hitch on my car. If that is the part you need, you are welcome to have it.
