Ebay headers

Im looking to get a ypipe shortly and i was browsing ebay and found these...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-01...spagenameZWDVW...now for my two questions

1. Has anyone purchased these and installed them? If so how do they perform/sound.
2. Are they cheap because they are poorly made or is there another reason?

the only reason i looked at them was because for the price of a y pipe i can get the headers also going this way, however, i dont like buying cheap parts like this on ebay. I know i should spend the money and get the more expensive stuff but i just can't figure out why they are so cheap.

Looks like the SSAC crap.

Search, they're not exactly a worthy product.

Headers on a VQ30 are just shy of worthless anyway (if you're fed spec), unless you're going for as much horsepower as possible and have exhausted every other bolton.

From: Auburn WA,
I have the same thing on my ride and fitment was perfect and havn't had a problem in the 2 years they have been on. The speculation is what kind of gains they actually give???? Can't be any worse than just a Y-pipe and is a great weight reduction (probly 40lbs)

headers on the vq30 dont give you any hp gain and little tourqe. i was on my way down that road untill my exhaust shop told me otherwise. one of the guys there was a major maximaholic and told me that he has tried many different styles and unless your pushin atleast 400 hp there is no point to having them on any car.

Would the ypipe from ebay give about the same power increase as say warpspeed or any other ypipe manufacturers?

no, your better off paying the extra cash for the better product. Also, if you do pay the extra cash try to go with the stainless steel. I wish I had.

Undoubtedly due to the removal of the precats in the Y, not the headers proper.

So you changed absolutely nothing between both dyno runs except the headers and y? And was this a straight dyno or after a tune?

Okay, so I'll ask again since you didn't get what I asked.

So you changed absolutely nothing between runs? And was this a dyno result right after install or right after a tune?

Who said I was a 'master mechanic' at all? Oh yea, I know everything about everything, because I...asked a question. Whereas people who know everything make statements, not ask questions.

You didn't say no tune just headers earlier, and your sig says that your AFC is tuned, so it leads one to assume.

Do you have the DRF's?

Heard they were junk? Seen dyno sheets of them before with very little gains, runs before and after with virtually no gains.

The point of this thread is that they may make power gains, but they aren't worth it on a VQ30, not at his power level. Between the cost, fitment, possible issues with an eBay seller, etc, not worth it.

Dyno Run File.

ok u doo know quality of motor ks bad 02 sensor any little thing wrong with that motor can kill hp even with adding mods....soo lets say sumone just got the ssac headers and put them on meanwhile hes down compression like 40 50 psi in like 3 or 4 cylinders and doesnt realize...he goes to the dyno and its actually worse then when he dynoed it before...now do u think it was cause of the headers......

O2 sensors have no impact during open loop.
Given the same engine status before and after the mod, any power gain/loss should be localized to that one modification. Should, not always.
If he had low compression before and after the mod, if it's been shown to give power on a 'healthy' engine it should do the same on theirs. Maybe not as much as it would have otherwise, but...

I'm really not going to argue petty things like this with you.

Equal length headers make 20 WHP over stock, consistently (2 or more dynos).

I have never seen any y-pipe give 18 whp, consistently, 12 -15, yes.

All the y pipes available to us are not equal length, and in return, make our vehicles sound like horrid out of tune tractors.

If you want the most performance, get headers, if you're asking yourself if they're worth it, scrap the idea and get a y-pipe.

Don't blow money on shorty headers, use it on a y-pipe if money is of the essence.

If it is not of the essence, do it right and get real headers.
