taking apart mirrors

I need to repaint one of my side mirrors and before I start taking it apart I wanted to see if there is a special way to do it. Or maybe you guys can just give me some tips.

You have to remove the mirror itself but be carefull because the clips in the back break easily. After that there are 3 screws towards the back of the shell remove those and it'll come off.<--this is for the painted portion not the black housing.
