4th generation engine monitoring thread
Hi, searching around and didn't find much on this. Specifically, what should be the ideal reading of each sensor under different conditions. I can't believe there isn't a sticky on this, but I guess most people don't drive around with a laptop hooked up to their ECU . anyways here is a list of info that would be cool to have.
Speed: I think everyone get this one.
RPM: Again hopefully everyone
Engine temp: What is the average? What is a good temp? I ran about 198 to 201 this morning and it was about 56F outside.
Timing: What is good range, what should you get under different conditions?
Throttle: should be obvious.
Air flow: What is good range, what should you get under different conditions?
AAC: What is good range, what should you get under different conditions?
O2 sensor: mine was swinging back an forth, this that good? and What is good range, what should you get under different conditions?
Injector: What is good range, what should you get under different conditions?
Battery: I got about 13-14V this morning, what should it be?
Duty Cycle: What is it, What is good range, what should you get under different conditions?
O2 Sensor RH: What is good range, what should you get under different conditions?
Injector RH: What is good range, what should you get under different conditions?
Duty Cycle RH: What is good range, what should you get under different conditions?
MPG: Not a sensor, but what should it be on a level road at different MPH's. This morning I ran an average of 29mpg on a one hour trip 60% of which was highway. at 55mph I was getting about 30-33 mpg at 50 about 30-34 at 60 about 29-31.
Air Temp F: This is the temp of the out side air/whats coming through the intake. How does this temp effect engine performance?
A/F Base: What is good range, what should you get under different conditions?
A/F Base SL: What is good range, what should you get under different conditions?
A/F Base RH: What is good range, what should you get under different conditions?
EGT:: What is good range, what should you get under different conditions?
Yes I know a very small question. But an important one. If I missed any feel free to add them. Also if you have any graphs, feel free to post them.

A lot of these may vary widely during any driving condition, based on load, air temp, air density, so on and so forth. Throttle? That's a pure user input.
EGT's, duty cycles, timing, and MAF g/s will all jump around based on variables above.
IACV usage isn't really relevant to anything except at idle IIRC, O2 sensor voltages are useless, you want to look at st and lt fuel trims.
B+ voltage should be anywhere between 13v and 15v, and there are hundreds of thousands of threads about MPG.

"O2 sensor voltages are useless" in not an example of specific information.
A good example would be "RPM: Ideal ???rmp, Max safe RMP ????rmp" and a graph of a car running properly on a level road with RMP vs. Miles per Hour with the driving conditions provided (air temp, any mods on the car, fuel used, ect)

This thread is for specific information, for example actual graphs for the sensors, what range should it be within, what should it ideally be? If these values change under different conditions, then how so for each condition?

Unless you want a list for every RPM, air density, TPS input, etc, it's impossible to show how these values change for every condition.
Okay, you want a graph of specific information?
There's a 0-60 run.

Most of these are 5th gen specific, BUT, there are a few posts that deal with the A32.

Here's a WOT run, IIRC, 2nd gear.
