Does it still smoke? it is most likely the spilled coolant burning off...did you remeber to reattach the coolant lines on the back of the UIM?

Maybe your vacuum lines are wrong....

Also, do you have a check valve somewhere in the system?

Alright heres what you should do.

I had the same problems, i re-did EVERYTHING.

My questions to you is:

What type of vacuum canister, how is your RPM switched wired up.

You should have a vacuum line coming from the intake manifold, or vacuum sourced t-eed off something, that should run to the INPUT of the vacuum canister. If your vacuum canister doesnt have a built in check valve you will need to place one between the vacuum line going to the vac canister.

second, you will have a vacuum line going from the OUTPUT of the vacuum canister going to the INPUT of the control solenoid. From there there should be 2 ports side by side and 1 on its own, the one on its own is a breather, that will attatch to nothing. The port beside the input will be the output, that port goes to the mevi actuator.

for the RPM switch, i had mine setup like this:

I tapped directly off the battery, wired in a inline fuse. That is for the red power wire, the black i grounded to the body. the white wire, or whtever color it is for the RPM signal i tapped off the ecu, should be the white with green stripe, i chose this over the tach because i had already tapped this wire for my safc2. Now here is the part where i think some people go wrong. the yellow ACTIVATION wire coming from the RPM switch needs to be hooked up to the GROUND of the control solenoid. For the positive on the control solenoid, i tapped into the power wire from the rpm switch after the inline fuse. this way i have both on a fused circuit.

My setup is a OEM nissan vac canister, check valve, dawes(GM) control solenoid, and summit RPM switch. If you would like i can post up pictures, if not search my username and you will see my issues with my mevi, i think i covered almost every aspect on it lol.

As for the smoke, make sure you hooked up those 2 PITA coolant lines near the EGR, i forgot to hook one up and realized it right away lol. The other thing is, if it continues to smoke, make sure the EGR is tight and the gasket did not fall off while you were putting it back on...trust me i know lol. I think i ran into almost every problem in the books.

good luck!

You will want to T off a vacuuum source behind the throttle plate. There should be one just behind the TB, t he line kinda runs down underneath the TB. Alternatively you can T off the FPR, it is right near the "V" of the engine, by the knock sensor.

switch around the vacuum lines on the switch....You need to use one line on the side with 2 ports and one on the other side leaving on port on the 2 side open...You have a different version of switch then others...try that and see what happens

Yes its messy, but it has be fully re-wired so its a lot shorter of a distance and well it looks way nicer.

the two lines are backwards on the control solenoid, just never corrected it in that picture lol.

Good picture for those trying to figure out the wiring, becuse everything is so spread apart.

I believe his control solenoid is setup correctly, but play with it, i personally havent seen that one before so i cant say for sure.
