Lmao! Sand Thru Intake

I just got this from the Noob thread.

Help! Can anyone tell me what to do! My buddy only does Hondas so he doesn't know much about nissans.

please make a new topic for me mods since this is bad
Please tell me if maybe I'm not up to date with my port and polishing.

Older people on this board correct me if I'm wrong.

You have an air filter to filter out road crap, leaves, SAND, etc.... So it doesnt get in the engine.

Why would you do that? Port and Polish.
Thats not how you do that. Port and polish is when you take of the head polish it to get better airflow, Its something the average Joe shouldn't be doing because of the potiential it has to **** up ALOT of ****.

You Have enough sense in keeping sand out of the turbo but not the engine- which has more moving parts...............?

Edit: I'm gonna shark this one.....How much for the turbo and y-pipe?

Well dude quite frankly, lets think about this.... you were smart enough to put together your own turbo, BUT putting sand in the INTAKE didn't draw a red flag???

Probably Not. It's a matter of time before you're engine locks up.

At first man...I laughed, but now I feel sorry- cause I've done some pretty stupid things with friends, but never with my car. The reason the sand won't work is because P&P should be done at a machine shop, these guys remove proper amounts of metal then polish. Some DIYer's use dremels etc With the heads off. If you think of the motor running....the intake runs into the LIM that's attached to the Heads...The air passes by the Intake valves(moving part) and into the combustion chamber that contains another moving part called the piston. All these moving parts, seals, rings are lubricated with oil......Now throw some sand in there and you in effect have a sander-ruinning all the precise surfaces and rings. If you ran 10 lbs of sand thru there, u basically have a sand box in ur motor. If the car is still running it TRULLY shows how bulletproof these VQ's are.....any other motor would have ceased--->good luck and research before u do something like this again.

Jordan....That dead chicken pic is horrible, prolly gonna have nightmares tonight.

this is a joke for those unaware

maxima guy
Hey guys, I've got a turboed 95 A32 Maxima. I've had a k04 and chip for a while and wanted to get more performance. I was recommended to port and polish the intake and exhaust. We found out they used abrasive material to do it like gritty sand. So I got with my friend that tunes Hondas and we decided to try it ourselves. We got a bag of sandblasting sand and hooked up into the intake and started the car. We had to hold the gas so it would run. He wanted to let the engine suck in the sand through the intake so it would port it out and then push it out the ehxaust so it would port the exhaust manifold. I was worried that it might cause problems but he figured it'd be OK as long as we didn't make boost and it get sucked in the turbo. After running the car and letting it suck in sand we got about half way through a 25 lb bag. The check engine light was on and the engine was bucking and kicking and sounding really weird. We stopped and hooked the car back up normal and took off the sand supply. We tried to start it again and it was really hard. Once started it couldn't idle and kept making weird noises. We took it out and drove it and it started to make scraping and knocking noises.
Help! Can anyone tell me what to do! My buddy only does Hondas so he doesn't know much about nissans.

You didn't pull it off right, when I read it on the audi forum I was in stitches and really believed it at first.

DELETE THE THREAD HAM (delete first post, it will be gone ) & let TurboA32 start it in a week or so, it will go over so much better, people will try to own him and than we will all laugh!

It didn't sound too real to me. If he had enough sense to have a turbo and to listen to a Honda guy, it just didn't add up (not condoning Honda bashing or any other bashing). If this is (was) real......WOW, what a tool!
