E Brake Test...Is It Safe?
I was always curious that is i rolled up to a large parking lot and when it was pooring rain out, and i cut my wheel and pulled my ebrake just for the hell of it. I want to do in on a newly paved parking lot due to the surface. Is this safe? 1995 Nissan Maxima

I've done similar things before
A rainy day in the Disneyland Parking lot is perfect. The pavement is pretty slick from all the cars parking there year-round and everybody Disneyland when it rains. I swear the parking lot is only 20% full on a rainy day. I just took the car to 25MPH threw it in neutral, steered to the right, tapped the brakes, quick turn to the left, and applied the e-brake. It was a lot of fun...looked just like what they do in the commercials. It felt like I was drifting for a good 5 seconds. I was a bit concerned for my tires, but I felt them for heat afterwards and they were as cool as before, so I guess all the oil and water on the road completely took the friction away from the tires.
I really don't suggest you try this on an open road or anyway that has people, parked cars, trees, or curbs. That's what makes the Disneyland parking lot so great...6 arces of empty slippery asphalt. It's also a great way to determine how lousy a stop is in the rain when you stand on the brakes.

Like the Altima commercial!!
It fun, and very stupid. I do this with other peoples cars at work. Neons spin like crazy, altimas are fun to. I won't do it with my car cause this one time, as the car was spinning, it hit a large crack, which stopped the back wheels motion, causing a large jolt and bang. I thought I snapped the axle or something. I brought the car to the owner quickly and hid myself.

apparently they have the abiluity to change gears without the clutch. especially after 4000rpm.
the brakes are always ment o be hammered
rentals corner far far better than an ordinary car
they also seem to rev way past the red line.

oh keep in mind that its not really an E-brake. its juss a parking/hand brake. in an emergency situation, do you use that brake? will it stop you? No way mannn, its fun to mess around with but it aint gonna stop you.
alot of rental cars here have a 4k netural rev limiter. Enterprise does that, im not sure about other companies.

just try this.. while going about 35 or so turn very sharp and then floor it so that it will down shift, (i guess just downshift for 5-speed), and your front tires will start spinnin and you will usually lose traction and start sliding..

Is that so? Next time you are travelling at 100mph please do me a favour and pull the hand-brake hard.
