So i cant drive my max at night now
A few weeks ago I noticed my passenger side foglight went out. So i figured id replace the bulb. Which I did. But still nothing. So i said screw it today I took a look at it today and thought maybe the lil wiring harness that connects to the fog light bulb itself went bad. But still nothing. So i cut the harness and hard wired the positive from the bulb to the postive coming from the old harness wiring I cut and the ground I attached to the bulb itself. I tried to ground it on the foglight housing where it usually is grounded to but it didnt work so I figured grounding it to the bulbs metal lip worked. So it works for a few hours and now its out again this time I look and the way I grounded it to my foglight bulb the grounding wire is kinda burnt and its black around that area and a lil bit of smoke was coming out. So thats one lighting problem. Another I have some helio headlight bulbs 9004 I know doing the converstion to 9007 very soon. My passenger side headlight bulb was out so I checked that. It wasnt out cause when I pulled the headlight wiring harness from the back of the bulb I saw one of the lil nibs was melted. So lets put it this way you pull the harness straight out the nib closet to the driver side is melted well the plastic around is melted. So im thinkin to myself wtf?? So me being the genius I am i took some needle nose pillars and took the melted plastic around the metal nib off. So i plug the the harness back into the bulb it doesnt work so i move it around a bit until it settles in and its on and electrial tape it there. So my question is whats the problem? Before you ask the foglights are rewired the bulbs are PIAA h3's, the headlight bulbs aren't no pepboy's bulbs didnt have a problem with them for about 6 months.
eh, well,if your harness looks melted, I would replace that first...
if that doesn't resolve it, then you might want to trouble shoot more to pin point the cause..
the stalk is just a suggestion since that was my issue

yea thats on my list for the junkyard this weekend....
Replace your wiring harness and your problem will be fixed. You can get a new one from Advance Auto for about $5. This happened to my 4th Gen on the drivers side, I never did find out what caused it but that was the problem.
if you are melting things just replacing parts is not fixing it, you need to find out if something is touching or if a wire is pinch
are any of these wires around alot of heat is it possible touched a header or hot piping

If all else fails you can get a aux light hookup kit from your local parts store and then you will have fogs. You should also try to figure out what is melting it as there has to be a short somewhere for you to melt any type of wiring.
Im goin tommorow with my friend to grab one from the junkyard..
i dont think so. Cause the inside plastic melted around the pins that connect into the back of the bulb
