Going all out on 4th gen auto

I've descided that when i get back home in about a month and a half i'll splurge on my max and give it the bolt ons it needs

1. swap in CAI for my Stillen
2. Don's VB mod
3. JWT ECU
4. UDP
5. (maybe) RT CAT

Do you think with all of these and my Y pipe that i'd break into the 14's? or is that just a dream for an auto?

Haha sounds a little sketchy, would it really make the max accelerate faster then just having the auto with the VB mod?

no probaly not. it means that you will be able to change gears hen you wan and not when the tranny gets around to it. Also I will test to see if the lockup can be used under load in other gears. A prototype controller is being built at the moment.

I doubt it. With all those bolt on mods, on a really cold day. You might pull 15.2-15.3. There are plenty of auto max out there with all the bolt ons. None in the 14s.

Re: Sub 14s

He doesn't count. He actually trailer his car to races. He probably have some track only suspension setup and engine setup.

He put it on the dyno at the shop that I use here in Houston. I would have to ask them, but I think it's street legal. Still pretty quick for a heavy car with an automatic.

Sprint is right, this conversion would be the best thing (besides boost) to increase speed. I'm gettin it done sometime in the future, but got a special deal. I suggest you do the same

Cant go wrong with a 5 speed. Can I suggest a Y pipe in yopur list? That should help you out also since your already down there doing the CAT.

I already have a Y pipe, i'd totally go for a 5 sp conversion, but i wouldnt' want to spend more then about $1000 on something like that or I'd be wondering why I didnt' just sell my car and BUY a used 5 speed, i'm sure the $$ hit i'd take probably would be less than $1000 since my GLE is worth a little bit more.....Is this possible to do for under 1k without me having to install anything? and if so, wouldn't there be a risk of something going wrong at all?

Wait a sec, are you guys telling me that if an auto GXE had a complete or custom catback, aftermarket cat, aftermarket Y-Pipe, Don's VB Mod, and an ECU upgrade, he still would not run 14s?

Wait a second, are you guys telling me that if an auto GXE had an aftermarket intake, complete or custom catback, aftermarket cat, aftermarket Y-Pipe, Don's VB Mod, and an ECU upgrade, he still would not run 14s? What's the point of modding a auto max then and why do people do it?

BTW, add an UDP in that list, and I find that hard to believe.

I think a lot of the reason it wouldn't run 14's is because of the launch. From a rolling start I think a modded auto would easily take out a stock 5 sp. especially if the 5 sp. isn't a great driver.

1. swap in CAI for my Stillen-keep the stealin
2. Don's VB mod-yes
3. JWT ECU- maybe
4. UDP- yes
5. (maybe) RT CAT - Ditch it and get a Y-pipe and a B-pipe
6. Get lighter wheels and lose as much weight as possible. At this point you'll be close to 15 flat.

Do you think with all of these and my Y pipe that i'd break into the 14's? or is that just a dream for an auto?

sorry, by "all out" i ment on n/a performance...not handling, looks, or stereo. Personally, i think w/the ftsb, and rsb, the max handles great, it looks fine, and since i don't listen to rap or any music w/a lot of bass, the bose sound system is more then fine for me.

Re: Going all out on 4th gen auto

Your forgetting one of the most important things, a higher stall torque convertor. Since your going all out just buy 2 spare 15in rims and run some 205/50-15s. This will give you shorter gearing and higher trapspeed. I've seen a simularly modded max run 15.1-15.3 at HRP.

Re: Re: Sub 14s

Actually last time I seen him run he was using the tokico/eibach setup. Also he only had bolt ons (I/Y/E/UDP/ecu) but he did have his VB mod and a L10 TC. On his first and only NA pass he did like a 14.9 @ 91 with a 2.29 60ft IIRC on slicks. Given a better launch (not bogging like on that run) his car NA is good for 14.6-14.9s.
