If you have a 99, crank your car, if the security light stays lit. You have to tow your car to the dealership and have your keys reprogrammed.

If that's not right, put water in your oil and put the negative battery cable on your positive terminal and vice versa and try to start the car.

thanks for all the advice gang. In the end it was a badly corroded negative lead. not enough power was going to the starter or alarm. i dont know. it was enough to power th eheadliights but not enough to crank the engine.

but i appreciate all the info. merry xmas.

if anyone can tell me how i can paint my car patch so i dont have an ugly orange side on the back that would be cool. i bought the car with these half assed job of trying to fix a bad dent i guess. looks like some hardening material. i thought about just buying some aerosol paint from autozone and just paintingit myself but havent gotten to it. i think they sell aersol clear coat too.

a real stupid oversight that cost me $50.

Hahahahahahaha Oh well, at least it was something simple that didn't cost your arm or leg! Just leave it or get it painted. Who cares. The paint should work if that's what it's designed for.
