Tranny experts...please chime in.

Hey guys...Ive been having a clunk or banging sound when I step hard on the throttle. For some back ground, I replaced both axles so they're not torn and wheel bearings. I also replaced lower engine mounts because they were bad and thought that the sound was a result of bad mounts->still persists. I have no codes.

I did carelessly add a bit too much fluid in but don't think it would affect it...would it? haven't gotten around to removing the excess..what do you guys think it could be? TC? or worse. Thanks in advance for input cause when it come to the func of the tranny I'm noob. Thanks

Make sure the axles are positively clicked into the tranny.

Fr33way and dgeesaman, thanks for the info- I did notice today that the pass side axle had a small leak and I just replace that bearing, Will check calibration on my tq wrench to redo my axle nuts- and definately didn't think that the axle may have come loose, but will check for play since the leak is present.

Another question, I've replaced my axles many times and this is the fisrt time I've had an issue...a couple of months back when I dropped the motor- when I was pulling out the long axle it slipped out within the boot and I managed to get it back in->this never happend before on other axles. Question is could a bearing within the boot come loose or is it contained within a plastic piece? Rebuilding the axle is one of the few things I have done by some one else until recently when the price of a new axle became more cost effective. Thanks again for your thought and I will check them both tommorow.

^^^Read the information in the mechanical sticky regarding manual trannsmission issue's.

OP: Sounds like it could be that pass side axle, have you checked for any abnormal play at that joint? Also, I know you said you did the front & back mounts, but what kind of shape is your core support in? Edit: nevermind, your in florida.

I wouldn't sweat the overfilled trans, it will push it out no problem.

KRRZ350, yeah my core support is perfect...haven't been driving it much, just driving my truck cause I haven't had a chance to get down under and check. Will check for play and torque on lug nut. thanks for the input and good luck with that 00vi sale.
