Mud Flaps good/bad?

Just wondering for all of those in areas that get a real winter (snow, sleet, slush). Are mud flaps useful? When it snows and it all gets stuck in the wheel well would not having any mud flaps help. I took mine off (they were after market and I did't like the way they looked anyway) but I don't really notice a difference. Just wanted to get others 2 cents on this.

Mud flaps may ruin the clean lines of a car, but they definitely have their uses. Obviously keeping the salt and grime off your paint is a plus, but in Brooklyn we have bad roads. This means that either I get chunks and debris hitting my paint. I also drove across a place where construction was going on, and when I parked I noticed white cement goo sprayed all over behind the wheels...but if you live in the suburbs or any normal area you don't need mudflaps. That's just my opinion. Maybe now I'll go and buy mudflaps lol.

i think factory mudflaps makes a car look less naked, if its low and just a front lip and not a full lip kit the mugflaps are a major PLUS

Mudflaps FTW...
I have my winter set and summer set for the 4th gen..
Winter set: OEM untouched
Summer Set: OEM but shaved ( if I didn't shave them, they would rub against the ground )

Mud flaps FTL...

First off, they make the car look wrong

Secondly, If you sell your used OEM ones on eBay you can make 50-80 bucks to spend on better mods

Third, They trap grime/road debris under them where they contact the paint, this makes your paint degraded under the mudflaps and looks horrible if you have them on for too long of a time.

Fourth, they're not necessary if you wash your car enough

Fifth, they scrape the ground when you go over bumps, steep angles when you're lowered

out of principle, keep them.

Ever drive behind someone without flaps? not fun.

For New England winters, they are almost necessary to keep 1/2 the slushy **** off of your paint. I keep them on year round and don't mind the look of them at all.

+1. I hate people who don't have mudflaps. They kick up A LOT more muddy water onto my windshield than cars with them. It's a pain in the *** driving behind someone like that.

I love my flaps .
