XTD Clutch on ebay?????
I am currently doing a vq35 swap. I was wondering if anyone has used this clutch? How is it? Is it legit? Would anyone recommend this clutch? I don't want to go cheap but this swap has already hit the pockets deep.

I appreciate the opinions and thoughts but I was looking for more of the problems with the clutch, the good and bad, peoples actual experience of the clutch. And are you guys just saying all that because the price is cheap? Does anyone know is XTD is a reliable brand or is it just because on eBay it might be a bad buy?

My exedy on my N2O Max has seen several races, spining tires from being stuck in the snow, burnouts, mom, and I teach people to drive stick on that car.
My turbo Max same thing. And both are going strong 3 years and counting.... Spend the extra cash and have a piece of mind...
Ohh... I forgot to tell you that I got the Exedy clutch used from me friend who beat the $hit out of it before he totaled his car... And I broke a transmission doing burn outs. I got a used tranny and put the exedy on it...

I dunno. Paying $139 for a racing clutch stage 2 seems kinda sketch considering most really good stage 2 clutches start @ $400... So its ur call... Its a pretty important part and I wouldnt pass up on this one... U can always for for a Gen 5 clutch to make it much easier and cheaper plus with ur VQ35 engine swap it will accommodate it just right. And I think they run like in the low $200s... I am probably gonna put a Gen 5 in... The only diff between the 5 and 4 is I from what I heard is the Gen 5 has more clamping force and supports more TQ on the pressure plate.

Well for anyone who does get a XTD clutch off ebay just remember its going to be a hit or miss!! Either it's going to last you 2 - 7 months or 60k miles. I didn't take that chance when I finally gave in and bought a Exedy OEM for $140 shipped (Had a shop change my clutch as it was cold out and didn't have the time so I didn't want to risk a fk up). Just be warned!
Also the pressure plate is made by Exedy iirc.

Well i just got the clutch installed. it grabs like hell, doesn't slip at all. the pressure plate is actually the same regular one, just painted red and feels the same but so long as the clutch grabs fine and $160.00 price, cant beat that and am OK with it.

For everyday stock use it should be ok. It's a cheaper product so material quality will be lower. This can lead to premature failure but that can also depend on you're luck in getting a quality unit.
I have their 6 puck unsprung clutch in my MR2 because it came with my engine swap and decided to use it despite some of the negative reviews. After just a few consecutive passes at a strip I can feel it starting to slip from the heat. Compared to an ACT unsprung, pedal feel offers almost no feedback at all. It's stiff but you don't have that feeling of initial bite like you do with a quality unit. It's just kind of mushy and just gradually builds tension. However, it has held up pretty well. I've used it with little remorse for the past year and a half, roughly 9k miles and plenty of passes at the strip.
Considering it's different cars and different styles of clutches. (stg 1 sprung vs. stg 3 unsprung) This can't be considered much of a review on the specific clutch you're interested in, but I do know the general consensus about all their products is increased chatter and poor pedal feedback.
Centerforce makes a nice "middle of the road" option. I was real happy with the MR2 version in my original NA drivetrain prior to my swap. It still had a little bit a chatter but feedback compared to the stock clutch was amazing. Not real heavy, just enough to have a little bit of added spring to it. You really felt the transition point. I put 15k miles on it, including delivering chinese food, before pulling the drivetrain and it still looked brand new. It ended up being sold it with the tranny and the current owner is still using it everyday.
If we're talking 5th gen...

not bad... this would be 95% DD use... maybe 1 or 2 track events over the span of a yr or 2... the OEM feels fine now, im not too much a fan of it like i was with the OE exedy in my 5.5, maybe i need to adjust the clutch pedal.. i see a lot of ppl went with the stage3, im taking it you guys were boosted??? i know a fellow 290's whp local is using OE clutch n working fine...maybe ill go with the OE exedy but i sure would love to save that $40 as i am unemployed and this is going in a lightly bolted 3.0 5th gen
