finally finished my LED tails

So after two months I finally got the time to take apart the lights and install the led boards and wire it up in the car. I don't have all the pictures for show yet but I figured to post up now and post pictures when I get more later. I know the LED tails have come up again lately on the org and I'm just proud to finally say that I finished them ha. So here are some of the pictures I have so far.

Boards before wiring with just LED's in place.

One side lit up

Dusk running lights

I havn't been able to get night shots yet or brake shots. Not sure the brake shots will work for night time since they are bright but I'll try. Tomorrow I'll try to post up some more pictures. I also apologize for the quality of the pictures. My camera is really old and not very detailed. Not much to work with.

thanks for the nice words. BlackonBlack, I didn't take any pictures of the housings before hand. Didn't have the camera handy and didn't want to wait to get them in ha. Nothing fancy in there anyway tho.

haha actually yes it is. Surprised you picked that out of the background.

I'm thinking of making some sets for people but I don't know. It is a lot of work to make them. Def need half the payments first for making them. We'll see.

Looks very nice mate! I would really like to see someone put theme back into production, since Kevlo is now a mod and doesn't have time for that sortta playing around anymore. hehehe j/k Kevlo!

Did you just get a blank board and wire the back of it? Did you have to cut the board, or did you order it pre-cut? Just wondering ... they look very professional for sure!

Cheers!

well I never thought about 6th gen. I actually was thinking about the 5th gens the other day. I saw a 5th gen max and was thinking of doing a half circle design but I don't know.

JTZMax, everything was made by myself. No ordering. I didn't like ordering out because I wanted to do all the work. It's all perf-board.

Check out this giant thread on the 6th Gen forum. Tons of buyers for LED lights. If someone would just make them: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=542981

OK, here is the deal. I thought about this for a bit and if we get enough people interested, we can exercise this option. There are plenty of factories in china that make LED lamps and toys and such. If we get them to mass produce a setup that is ready to be put (with minimal effort) into the existing tail light housing, that would be great. I definitely know it is possible, but we will need about 200 commitments. I know that between this forum and the nycmaxima boards we can get at least 80-100. The rest can be sold on ebay for a profit. We will need 50% deposits from everyone. This is a big endeavor so someone who is trusted on this forum for many years can be in charge of the money or whatever. We are looking at a production price between 60 and 100 dollars a set. This will include functional LED backup lights, turn signals, and two different intensities for headlights on and off. What does everyone think?

... or you could just wait about another month, at which time an led kit will be available for 97-99. i have the final (hopefully) prototype boards coming in next week.from there i just need to piece together some odds and ends to make the pnp kit complete.

Man... I wish someone still made those and sold them.... I would buy a pair... but I heard that they were selling for like $500 and up back then... Which is pretty high imo and somewhat of a rip. I know it is hard work putting them together but not $500 worth of work. lol
