KYB AGX & B+G Springs

Just completed the install of the KYB AGX's and B+G springs and could not be more estatic. By far the best ride and appearance I have seen on a spring/strut combination. The car rides like it is on rails and the drop is just what the doctor ordered at 1.6 inches and that is before it settles. The AGX's are a little stiff and I installed them set at the "3" setting all the way around. I will give it a couple of days and adjust it to a softer setting if needed. As soon as I get my digital camera back I wil post some pics. I would highly recommend this combo.

How much did the set cost you? Where did you buy them.

ARe all performance shocks are adjustable? Should I get none adjustable so I could cut the price? Thanks

Most high performance shocks/struts are adjustable...because adjustability is needed when racing on different road surfaces.

I dont need to race thats why I need to drop the car and get new shocks so they handle the drop. I need to save money and have good ride quality. I am everyday driver. I will not be using them to race. Its about the looks and a little better handling. Thank you.

Get the H&Rs and KYB GR2's.

I would definately go with the B+G springs. They are just as comfortable as the H&R's and they are much better quality. The GR2's are strictly stock replacements and should not be used with a lowering spring.

The KYB's were $380.00 for the set and I bought them from Cattman. Shox.com has the B+G springs.

The GR-2's , although stock replacements, are reportedly a firm and durable strut according to some of the folks here. The AGX's, on the other hand, are reported to be stiff and perhaps a little too firm by those here. (Rides like a Vette! eeeshhhhh!) Why would you be reluctant to use the GR-2's with the B&G's? That's what I'm planning to do. I'd be interested in hearing about their feel once you've installed the B&G/AGX set up.

My only concern with the GR2's would be durability. When I did the install yesterday and took off my stock struts and springs the fornt struts were in really bad shape. This is with only 38,000 miles on a stock set up. If the GR2's will hold up better I would go with them. I like the ability to adjust the AGX's even though I may never do so. As far as the ride goes, yes they are a little stiffer than the stock set up but I would not go as far as a Vette ride.

See my concern is I got 18 x 8.5 rims and plus my next set will be 245/40/18, cuz its already sitting in my garage, so Im just worrying about the rubbing issues.

I think b&g's are lower by a little bit, but they are cheaper. Also, B&G's are oem on MB, I think.

Just curious why you say B+G: "they are much better quality."

The only problems I have heard with H&R's have been noise due to coil contact (they have more coils than stock) and maybe something not isolated to H&R but possibly all progressive lowering springs. Very few have reported uneven lowering. I'd say that they qualify as very high quality and from a major spring mfg as well.

And as Red pointed out, you really would be hard-pressed to find even one report of blown GR2's when used with lowering springs. Still, I think the AGX's are pretty affordable...

i say just go with which ever is cheaper cause the ride quality in both B+G and H&Rs is about the same.

I've read a few posts from people (who have ridden both) that say they were slightly more impressed with the ride of the B&G's, but between these two springs, I think it's really more about making the choice on the basis of the difference in drop.

i have been looking into what springs to go with the agx and i found for proformance that eibach is the best which was supprising cause it is not much of a drop. Then sprint said to do a good job getting rid of lag. H&R and B&G were about equal. I am not sure what to go with yet so tell me what u find. I just might go with what i can get cheap.

i just installed the b&g 1.6" drop springs and the kyb agx shocks. all i can say is ... DAMN!!! big difference. looks great and rides incredible. it definitely is stiffer and i've set the fronts to 2 and the rears to 4. probably play with it more when the weather gets warmer.

definite improvement overall.

If you like the the way my car looks get the H&R/Tokico set up, and remember you drove my car at the Woodbury meet felt like stock and please dont listen to these guys about quality. H&R's are made in Germany and they are stock on Benz and BMW unless those are not quality cars B&G 1.6" and H&R 1.4" what the hell is .2" I'll let you drive my car again at the meet this week at the Plaza.

I have driven Maximas with both the H&R's and the B+G's and I decided to go with the B+G's. The H&R's have been more prevalent and are easier to find but, after driving the B+G's I was sold. The B+G's are less expensive and have a slightly bigger drop. What is not to like. My sig picture is my car after the install and once again I could not happier with the reults.

After reading many threads like this one, I finally decided to make up my mind as well and go with the B&G/AGX set up...Just hope it won't be rubbing with 245/40/18's..

I already ordered AGX's, but I;m not sure what springs to get. I'm leaning towards B&G cause the drop is bigger. Do sprints have a really harsh ride?
