I want to drain the coolant from the engine block and the radiator...

I wanted to drain from the radiator, but I decided to go the other way. I was reading the manual on how I can drain the coolant from the blocks and the radiator, but I got most of It down and I also wanted to know when I have to drain the block and the radiator and I will have to flush the radiator with water, now the question Is should I fill up the radiator with water untill it fills up to the top, that also means that the blocks will have to have water too. If this is right should I have about 8-9 liters of water than I will rev 2 to 3 times than let the engine cool off completely than drain everything than I will have a 50-50 mix to the engine and add back to 8-9 liters. Guys Is this correct or wrong. THANKS.

Is it ok to use the PRESTONE 50/50 mix coolant or it has to be Nissan, Because I was on the forum and I heard somewhere here that they were saying If you use any other coolants It might mess up the water pump sealants. Is this true?

Thanks man, Do I still have to mix when It says not to on the bottle, because the motorvate site says that you have to use soft water with the mix and then pour slowly.

Ok, guys I just did the drain and refill successfully and now I have one problem, The junk is floating around in my new coolant and the new coolant does not look bad as that other one did, boy It looked like someone put In some Lipton Green Tea in my radiator and It stinks bad. I have a feeling that I will have to do the drain and refill process again and how many times deepends on the damn crap that's floating around. The simple way would be If I can drain out the blocks, than I would like to know If the there's any diffrence between the fed-cali as of the drain on the block goes, because I am having a hard time finding the front one and the back on is under the manifold. Will I need a jack to do this block draining. THANKS.

I wouldn't worry too much about get to the engine block drain plugs. I think the front one is easy so you can do it if you want but I wouldn't worry. Just use the radiator drain plug. Do a quick drain and refill with just water. Then run your car for a while. Maybe do a few drain and refills if you want along the way but the main goal is to get your car to operating temperature and then the thermostat will open. Then stick your garden hose in the top of the radiator and leave the radiator petcock valve open and run your car until the fluid runs clear out of the petcock. Then turn off the car and drain the radiator one more time. Tighten the valve. Place the appropriate amount of coolant in the radiator to get the proper % you want. For instance, if the whole system takes 6 gallons and you want 30% coolant, place 1.8 gallon in the radiator (I forget the real numbers). Don't forget your overflow bottle too.

Should have taken it to a shop with your own bought coolant and done a machine flush to get all the old fluid out

go to a nissan/infiniti dealer and get yourself 2 jugs of nissan long life coolant (which is designed to be used in your car) and take it to a garage to flush the crap out...

I did all of this 6 months ago Coolant and Tranny flush with the machine. I just found out the radiator is bad and I am tyring to see if I can hold off the new radiator and see If flushing will cure the problem. I tryed buying the Nissan coolant they are $20 a gallon at my stealership.

Whats wrong with ur rad ?
flushing the rad will not cure mechanical faults of the rad
$20 dollars a jug sounds exactly like what i paid, that comes with owing a flagship car, get used to it

...What exact problem are you having and why do u suddenly think flushind the rad will make a difference?

Dont use Nissan brand coolant. Use the Toyota Red. Just as good but for some reason a lot less expensive (in the US anyhow).

Dude you can go to Wally-world and buy PEAK 50/50 GLOBAL, it's made for any make and model, and is like $6 a bottle. I've been running it in my car since the last flush and NO PROBLEMS..

I just did the second flush and now the coolant Is 100% dark green and I used Preston 50/50 and I will keep checking the radiator for some red tranny fluid and that was being the reason why I just flushed It twice and so far so good, but I am now having some little yellow sediment that's in the radiator and It has gone bad I am sure that's the sealants pealing away and at some point the sealant will erode than I will have the coolant full of tranny oil. The purpose was to see If I can drive the car the way It is untill I see the coolant fade than I will see the red tranny fluid. I am sure that the tranny was under extreme pressure so It dumped in certain amount of fluid and If I fill the tranny back to the way It was It will do the same thing. I am hoping that I can just drive untill I can get some cash in then I will drop in the new Radiator. WHAT U GUYS THINK.
