Clock / Heating lights

After installing a new stereo the clock doesnt illuminate, along with the lights on the heating cluster (although the actual display which tells you temp etc. does). The hazard and rear defog buttons still work.

Any ideas? (97 maxima GLE)

Best bet is take the stereo back out and make sure you plugged all the plugs back into that part of the dash. It's easy to miss one, or have one not "clicked" all the way in.

i also have a 97 GLE and suffer from no clock/ heater lights. i replaced them with LEDs but those burned out. the bulbs are bad, but for the clock i have no idea, i just use the radio clock anyways.

The clock is known to go out. Had to buy mine from a junk yard years back for about ~$25.

in mine, the clock and AC controls went dim because of the new stereo, maybe something like that?
if so, then i think there's a wire to the stereo that says dimmer control or something that might affect that.

if it's all the way out, then i'd say u have a different problem.

its also common that when you take apart the dash to install the CD player, bouncing around the pieces can cause the bulbs to go bad. after installing my CD player i had 2 bulbs (half my climate control) went out. Look at the bulbs in the display and see how they look

This happened to me too & the rest of the lights go off and on when the music BUMPS!!

My clock was already burnned out, so i wasn't worried about that, but i rechecked the plugs for the hazard and defrost but they were plugged. The buttons work when i press them, but just don't light up when unpressed.

There are four bulbs. Take the control out, look at the back. there is a little blue base with a screw driver slot in it. gently turn the bulb 90 degrees and they will come out. Here is where I got mine. I saw them somewhere else. You might try the dealer. The shipping was almost as much as the bulbs.
