CA-Spec Y Pipe Question
CA-Spec Y Pipe Question
I think I am going to go the Warpspeed route myself. The only thing is that I have CA- Specs on my Max. I live in the Northeast thoguh. I thought there were some differences in the Y pipes between CA and FED spec cars but after talking to warpspeed reps through e-mail I was told there are no differences. Maybe this is the route I will go then. Has anyone one here installed the FED spec Y pipe in a CA spec Max? I just want to knoqw before I actually buy one. Or if anyone knows if Budget Exhaust makes one that would be great too. I could not get a reply from them through e-mail if they make them for CA - Spec or not.
Thanks

Well, im not sure about the 98's but i know the 99's FED & Cali are different. I have the Stillen 2 piece Y-pipe on my 99 Cali spec. The Y-pipe only replaced 1 precat instead of 2 precats like the FED's do. Now im not sure if its the same for 98 but im guessing it is. Normally if you want a Cali spec pipe, it is a slightly different unit then FED spec.
Yeah I thought they might be different but I was told by the people at warpspeed they did not think so. What confused me is that everyone sells them as different pipes and people on the org say they are different too. I am just trying to make sure. So you think they are different too?

I'm wondering how you have a CA spec maxima and you live in the Northeast... I'm actually exactly the opposite, I live in Cali but my Maxima was purchased at Quirk Nissan in Massachusetts when we lived there 3 years ago... So was your car bought in CA and then you moved to MA? Also, how is my Maxima legal in CA if it's Fed spec... Thanks..
95-98 Maximas, CA and Fed spec, use the same pipe. O2 sensor location for the *cat* may be a little difference though.
99 Fed-spec uses the same pipe as the 95-98.
99 CA-spec uses a different pipe.
99 Fed-spec uses the same pipe as the 95-98.
