'95 Max noise just after starting - then stops
'95 Max noise just after starting - then stops
My '95 Max has an intermittent problem, and i think it's related to the starter and/or flywheel: turn the key, car starts and immediately i hear a noise (like something spinning) right after it starts, but fortunately goes away after a second. I can go for weeks without the noise returning, but it "decided" to come back this morning. Anyone had this problem before?

There's instructions someplace on here on how to solve that. It just involves removing your starter and regreasing the gears inside. Pretty simple, might take an hour or so. So a search on here for Starter Noise.

thanks, maximaniac! i figured it was the starter, but haven't removed it yet.

Go under common problems and starter noise fix. A little grease and a few hours and you're golden.

Kinda sounds like your starter has a mind of its own, and wishes to turn a few more revolutions after you turn the key

I'm suprised you haven't noticed the crunch - crunch - crunch sound when you turn the wheel at low speeds. I've got that in my 95 Max, explanation is also on motorvate website but I will wait until I want to do my front-end alignment.

Yeah, I had the same problem on the post before. Thanks iwannabmw, I think I'm just going to forget about it for now. Too much trouble.
