Question about Transmission

I have 97 GLE auto...

I usually use my car to tow my quad around and today i put the car in drive and there was nothing there...i would have to rev the car in gear to about 2700rpm and then it would start to creep...what would be the problem?

Once im moving 10-15 mph fast the car drives okay accept alittle rough shifting...any clue on costs of repairs? what could be wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Have you checked the fluid level lately?

If thats OK, then you need to have your tranny rebuilt. ~2500 bucks...

same exact thing that happened to mine............it eventually died, look at the thread below "automatic Tranny internal view". However before going to that extreme, make sure your TPS is proper order and that the fluid level is where its supposed to be

Sounds like you toasted it. The cheapest thing is to buy another tranny with low miles and swap it in. Rebuilds are a waste for most auto trannys.

What does your quad and trailer weigh together?

Good question about the weight. I also wonder about the terrian it's having to tow over ...and if Overdrive was ever turned OFF while towing.

Umm The quad and trailer are about 1000lbs..The car ran fine coming home then the next day this happened when the trailer& quad wasn't on the car. I just checked the fluid and thats fine and perfectly red. I drove the car around and just now and sometimes coming to a stop the car wont downshift to first it will start off in 2nd gear..I thought i would just have to replace the tq converter not rebuild the whole tranny.

I don't know too much about autos, but a rebuild of any kind adds up real fast and used auto trannys are cheap and plentiful.

The staring off in 2nd gear unless completely stopped is an issues for most 4th gen autos, it's the ECU programming.

...okay?

Why do you think it's an ECU problem? TCM controls the trans almost (if not) entirely.
