e46 bixenon retros i just bought

well i decided to start a thread on the progress of these headlights i bought. Upon buying them i realized that i might have to re aim them by hand i felt that it was still a good deal since all the parts were already there.

One reason me and my mechanic came up with that the headlights couldnt be aimed properly, was because the black housing was broken or didnt click in all the way when the person who did the retrofit tryed to reassemble it. basically they either jb welded the bottom of the projector to much and it didnt allow the headlight to move in the housing upon aiming without rubbing, or the jb weld came out so far that you couldnt push in the headlight housing onto the headlamp without friction or fitting, hence the headlight housing breaking.

So basically what we did yesterday was replace my good housing from my left headlight and put it on the retrofit. We also had to shave off excess jb weld from the bottom and dremmel out some of the black housing's hole where the projector sits in. This allowed the headlamp to be put in place properly without the housing cracking or breaking. At the same time by dremmeling and removing some jb weld, this gave the headlight a lot more play in adjustment.

Last nite i put it on my car as a rough look to see if the beam again was to low but i believe it was actually a little higher than i wanted. I found that this was good and surprising since he stated that the beam was to low. And i even played around with the adjustors to see if the light could be moved around and it did.

Just waiting for sunday to get my new d2s bulbs and ballasts wired in and the night time to aim and take pics!! hopefully they are aimable and arent off to much. It really doesnt matter how perfect the aim is cuz i just bought those hella ff50's and imma hid does bad boys so i will have enough light output anyway... i will keep you up dated!

Sounds like you bought Mattys setup.
All that really need to be done with them was remount the projectors and aim them. They were JB welded in so you would need to dremel the JB weld away from the projector. Once all the JB weld is off, you should be able to aim the projector itself inside the housings.
I would get the headlight mounted in the car the way you like, flush with the grill and etc. Then aim the actual projector itself either side to side or left to right.
Once you have the projectors all aimed evenly and nicely, seal them up.
That was a really good deal since it was complete setup, the projectors even had nice bezels.

Yeah the hardest thing for me now is to picking out the right shroud. The wrong shroud can make or break a retofit when it comes to how it looks. Sometimes simplicity is the best route. If you need any insight or help with anything hit me up I've done about 10 retro's on various cars and working on getting everything together for the Altima coupe retro.
