Knock sensor question.

I'm finally down to the last small problem on my car. It's been a rough road on getting this car to run right but it was worth it.

Now for the final repair I have to make: My car is idling rough. It doesn't idle rough in Park. I haven't tried neutral yet, but if I have my foot on the brake at a stop light my car will shake and I'll see the idle drop down on my rpm gauge for a split second and it will go back up. It will do this repeatidly.

I checked the codes, I'm throwing a knock sensor code. I heard that the knock sensor can mess with the idle so I figured that might be it.

My Dad had other ideas, he wanted to put in this BG-44k stuff into my car, when he did that, the car didn't shake at the stop light. However, once I had to fill up the gas again, it idled as bad as ever.

Is this really my knock sensor or is it something else? Was the BG-44k that stopped the shaking for a bit do something to temporarally help the knock sensor? This really has me puzzled, any input would be appreciated.

Knock sensor has ZERO effect on the engine idle. You need to keep looking.

yea KS has nothing to do with idle.

sounds more like an intake/throttle problem

have you cleaned your throttle body and idle air control?
that causes 90% of rough idles, tho i would have to see it to know

also, now seeing you have a 99, it could be coilpacks, but the CEL would show it if it was

id be glad to take a look at it this weekend

pmed you my cell.

Thanks. I will check my work schedule today and see if I can do it.

I have not cleaned any of that stuff, I have no idea how. I guess I should check the stickies.

By throttle body do you mean the TPS? My car is showing the systems of a faulty TPS. Although it may be just dirty.

TPS is throttle position sensor.
that should be ok unless you (or someone else) has messed with it in the past. its a pretty sensitive item.
