Thats why it's giving you that code. 0505 = No Failure Recorded/Detected

Just a possibility...................Maybe you are accidentally erasing the code while you are trying to get the code. It happened to me a while ago where I was attempting to get the code and accidentally erasing it so when I would do the self diagnostic check I would get the 0505, but still had a code that would come right back after my drive cycle.

I get this problem everytime I try to check a CEL, and I think I have it nailed down. I'm pretty sure your ECU screw is busted. I checked, got an 0505, and checked with a scanner and still pulled codes. Therefore I think the screw can't register inputs saying to output codes. Solution? Buy an OBD-II scanner.

if u dont want to buy a scanner, jus go to a shop like PepBoys or Kragen Autoparts and they will pull the codes for free.

all that screw is a POT... just measure the resistance and replace it with one of the same value..

If you want to do the self check, just drive the car for a couple of days and try again. If not, you can always to go auto zone and get it scanned for free...
