Starting problem. Please help!

I have a 96 maxima. I have problems starting sometimes. When i crank it, it doesn't start. You hear it trying to, it almost sounds like the timings off. And sometimes it is no problem. It has a brand new starter. And brand new fuel pump. The only code i have is a p1400 for the egr. What could it be? I have a second maxima i could switch sensors or what ever. By the way its 5-speed. I notched when it does it if you hold the key down and just blimp the gas it starts.Could it be TPS?

Where did you get your starter from? What kind of symptoms did you have relative to your situation with the previous starter?

I'm going through the same problem with my car right now, the car just wont turn over until i give it gas or if i leave it turned long enough it wil finally go...i've brought it to at least 4 shops and all have told me they cant find a thing wrong with it..I am guessing fuel pump but dont want to take a guess and spend 400 dollars, does anyone know what it could be?

Im having the same ****ing Issue, this car is pissing me off more and more, i thought i had fixed it 2yrs ago by Replacing, Battery/Starter, worked fine for about 1yr, and now the dam thing wont crank, not even a clicking noise

Im gonna try Pushing Starting it (since its 5speed) and bring it back to a dam Shop. Once we get this thing to work, im gonna trade this POS in for a used
S4

ps- only thing i can think of to replacing now would be Alternator/Coil Packs/Spark Plugs

Cloud--

If it's not even cranking but the battery is good, try the ignitiion switch. They go out a lot, but they're only about 30 bucks from the dealer, and easy to install. In fact, when you get the cover panels off, take the switch out and see if you can start the car by putting a screwdriver in the slot and turning.
