Full Exhaust Install
Full Exhaust Install
I bought a parts car for my 95 SE 5spd. The parts car has full lowing suspension, y pipe, b pipe, CAI, leather, and all the body panels where in good condition. I sold some of the parts out of it, and now I need to take out the exhaust from the y pipe to the muffler. I'm going to take out the full exhaust with still having it all in tacked. My question is....What are the tools I need to do it, and how long it should take me its going to be done in my driveway. I've never done it myself, but I think I should be okay with some guidelines. Thanks.
going to need some penetrating fluid, 14mm deep socket, i think a 12 also. a breaker bar, and something to get the o2s out if need be, either an o2 socket or an adjustable wrench. but yours will probably be in there pretty good.

I'll add that you'll need some long extensions, and a knuckle-joint. To clarify, I believe 12mm and 14 sockets (short and deep) and 12mm and 14mm open ended wrenches are needed. PB Blaster for penetration fluid.
If all goes smooth, about 1 hour to 1.5 hours to uninstall
Stuck/rusty bolts, who knows how long..... could take a while.
You may want to analyze the condition of the gaskets too and repurchase if they're pretty bad.
Oh, you won't be able to keep in all intact as one big piece since the exhaust goes over the rear axle...it will have to come apart in that area at the least.
Honestly your biggest problem will most likely be at the cat. What they said is what i used for my y pipe and catback. I also used a dremel drill to drill out the rusted on bolts, but you might not need that.
EDIT: I just noticed you are in Canada, I'd crawl under your car first and check out the bolts and see what they look like, I would imagine that if your car has gone through your winters you'll want to get the bolts heated and removed at a auto shop of some sort. It'll make your life easier and give you less headaches. Also check the stickys for a write up for ypipe install, thats where youll get the list of parts youll need. Good luck!
