engine swap?

Why is a lot of people on here doing an engine swap for our cars? What's the big advantage of it? V35 I think I read it's called. so i'm assumed since ourse is v30 it means your dropping in a 3.5 nissan V6, right? Doesn't that automatically turn your car into a salvage title when u replace the engine and make your car virtually drop value like crazy? I always heard not a good idea unless u never want to sell your car and have a salvaged title, Am i missing something here?

Salvage title? WTF?

Also, VQ30 and VQ35. Yes, 3.5 liter VQ series, from an Altima or a Maxima.

The swap may very well make your car depreciate even further, as most people will not want to buy a car that has had a motor swap. Except, of course, if you sell it to another enthusiast.

according to this wesbite on the definition of a salvage title:

"I stand Corrected, said the man wearing orthapedic shoes"

so unless the engine cost 75% more then the car is worth, which it doesn't, it doesn't change the title. I was always told though if you change the engine, the title changes, i guess i was wrong

Damn, I didnt realize they made V35 engines! And I thought they Veyron's 16 cylinders was a lot...

VQ35 = 65hp more than VQ30, which means its better

SEARCH FTW!

missing the 100 hp and tq gain from dropping in the VQ35 yea. Do some research before you post something like this. All Motor forum is there for a reason and so is google for info on the engine differences. Time for thread lock.

well instead of going throw all the hard work of an engine swap, why not buy a newer maxima with the 3.5 already in it?

No sir, I know this is gonna **** people off in here, but to me it's like cheating. U need to work with the engine that came with the car to gain respect for horsepower. ANyone can swap a big engine in a car and make it faster, but what's the honor in it? That to me is like a 2 guys who work out in the same gym with the same body type, one works hit butt off and the other one takes roids. Of course the guy on roids will be bigger and more muscluar, but does anyone have more respect for him? nope, they consider it cheating. Sorry for the weird bodybuilding reference, but that's kinda the field i'm going into

Um no. Not everyone can swap in a bigger engine. There is more work then just bolting in a bigger engine. But I'm sure you knew that. That's bull. You're saying every muscle guy that swapped in a bigger engine is a cheater...yeah I don't think so.

not saying it doesn't take a lot of work, just saying if your not using the engine that came in your car, it's cheating. That's just my opinion. If you want to turbo charge your engine, or supercharge or put tons of mods on your car to make it fast, that's awesome, but swapping in a entirely different engine is just cheating IMO. I know most people don't feel the same way I do. But i've had T/A's, GTP's SHO's and suped them all up, but never once did i think about putting an entirely different engine from a different car to my car, that takes the fun out of it IMO. I think there is way more to brag about on here with a guy who took his n/a maxima to run 12's or a guy who supercharged or turbo charged his max to run 12's then a guy who swapped out another engine and made his car faster. To me that's not the same car. Just the shell of a car with a different engine. That would be like when I owned my 97 transam with the LT1 engine in it and instead of suping it up to make it faster than the 98+ LS1 engines, i just swapped out an LS1 engine in it, just cheating in my opinion in the terms of modding a car.

Nobody is talking from a different car here, were talking from newer maximas that have the same basic engine with more displacement and redesigned heads and intake

yeah and the guy on roids is doing illegal drugs and is cheating instead of working with what the lord game him, kinda like working with the engine your car came with, hence the cheating comparison

it is from a different car, sure it's a maxima, but it's not the 4th generration maxima engine. That's the same comparison I said for my 97 T/A with the LT1 engine in it, taking it out and putting and LS1 engine, both engine are transam engine but only one came with the original car

Cheating??? If it makes my car go faster than I dont give a flying f*ck whats under the hood. And what if the stock engine is hard to get power out of? Say you have a CRX... the stock motor wont make any power. Period. So whats wrong with a swap?

LS1 Miatas, 240SXs, RX7s, etc FTW.
