Map Light Problem

Map Light Problem
I bought some 1895 LED bulbs off of ebay, and when I tested out the bulb it didn't illuminate in the map light socket. I popped the hood, got some wires, and connected the bulb to my battery, and the bulb illuminated, meaning the bulb runs off of 12 volts.
Does the map light also run off of 12v? Why the *** doesn't the bulb illuminate when in the map light socket? My stock bulb works fine, and on the bulb it says 12v.
I'm completely lost on why the LED light doesn't work. Any thoughts?

The LED bulb is basically the same thing as the stock bulb, I'm fuking lost as to why the thing doesn't light up. I tried moving it around in the map light socket but it just doesn't light up. I also got my tester out and tested out the volatage, and it read 12.3v.

leds will only work with the current flowing ina certain direction. some manufacturers take that into account and wire them to work regardless of installation. some dont. its like putting your car battery in and hooking up the + to the - battery terminal etc. put the light in the opposite way. should work. we are talking the festoon bulb right?

ok, for the front light. put the bulb in. if it doesnt work, untwist it, rotate it 180 degrees and insert again. those nubs are terminals and you are only using one. you prob dont have it instered the proper way and thats why it wont light up. if it is like the ones I had up front for the turn signals on an I30, one of the nubs had to be cut off to access the higher one.

this is up to you. but like i said, the bottom nub has to be cut off in order to allow the base to reach the socket contact. (from past experience with other similar bulbs). the 2 bulbs are not even right? one is higher than the other? if you are getting power at the socket, and the bulb lights up outside of the socket, then that is the problem. foil on the spring would confirm this, but would also run the risk of creating a short circuit. I didnt advise you to alter the bulb though.

i just bought two led bulbs too. they are a TINY TINY bit smaller than the stock bulb but are identical in every other way. and it does reach the back of the socket /circle that holds it in just fine. i DID try rotating it and everything too but no luck. if someone could clarify more about this cutting of the little nubs off.. first of all its metal.. but. yeah. . they are both the same size on the bulb too. they appear to me like they just hold the bulb in place honestly. but what do i know. i've replaced the dome light and courtest lights to LED already so now i just have to the map light.
