hey guys! I have a 96 model with out any fog light space on my bumper! i was wondering if anyone has installed any kind of fog lights on their car that is not stock? o was thinking about getting 2 small circle ones with the diameter of 2" and cut my bumper and some how fit it in there! has anyone done that before?? if so can you share your experience with me?

IMO, your best bet is to convert it to a 97-99 front end. If you have the money that is. Aftermarket fogs are rice.

don't put any fogs if your stock car haven't.
Just put 12k HID headlights with projectors and you'll be fine

Why waste money on projectors just to stick purple capsules in them?

Yeah, just go with the stock ones. As was said earlier, they look rice and really don't flow with the car, they just look weird.

Got some raybrig remote foglights so I also didn't have to deal with wiring and all that shananigans. They help immensely when needed. Much more so than the stock fogs.

OEM fogs>* (appearance wise)

You can pick up some OEM fogs/brackets from someone in the classified section.

I was just telling him what i thought. I see you are rocking the ricey tails, way to go. Most people on here will agree that non stock fogs look bad on 4th gens. So I am so sorry for telling him my opinion.

There is nothing wrong with carbon fiiber altezzas. They provide a massive wieght reduction due to the carbon fiber plastic used instead of the heavy regular plastic. Its like adding a mini supercharger. You definatley gain a few HP.

maybe it's just the angle of his pic but I don't think the altezzas look that bad

they're a step above the chrome ones at any rate...I'm getting the 97 rear end conversion with red/clears myself though

That's just it, there is no way to cleanly install aftermarket fogs. They will always look BAD. Rarely are they much more functional (if not less) than the stock fog lights, too.

Nope, but 90% of them are indeed worthless and look bad.

Ok, I will. Here's why they're better than 90% of aftermarket rims:

1. They're FREE. They came on the car.
2. They look just fine because THEY CAME ON THE CAR.
3. They don't weigh that much in comparison to said aftermarket rims, saving me overall weight; this allows me to accelerate quicker and save money on gas.
4. They're 15", meaning tires are cheap, normal street traction is great, and my ride comfort > yours.

rims dont make much or a difference in ride i find. the coilovers are what kill it. and tires for me are free so dont think tires for my 17s will cost more then tires for 15s with me, my rims on tire is actualy lighter then my stock rims( 16 inch 5 spoke) and are wider so i get a better launch. so yes maybe for some ppl 15s would be better. but thats if u wanna slip launching at 3 grand LOL

side note: just because they came on the car doesnt mean they look good or even fine at that matter. the 5 spokes are nice, but sawblades are ugly

There are definetly ricey aftermarket wheels. Do you not remember the "white racing wheels" that people were putting on any color car???

First of all, the reason people do what "every other maxima owner has" and dont get altezzas is because they find those lights ugly. If you really wanted to stand out you wouldnt be driving a maxima in the first place.
Second of all, you're the one that took this off-topic, making comments that did not help the OP one bit.

Agreed. There is absolutely no reason for me to go waste a ton of money on rims. NONE.

Of course they do! More rim = less tire.

Rims do indeed make a difference in ride. The larger the rim, the less tire (in MOST cases) and the less tire (and by tire I mean sidewall), the less comfortable the ride is going to be on ANY suspension setup. I seriously doubt your aftermarket rims are lighter than the stock 5-spokes. Prove it to me with a scale, then I'll believe you. Also, just because you have wider rims and tires doesn't mean you're going to get a better launch, especially with heavier wheels that have less of a sidewall. You probably have a worse launch, if anything. Let's have a competition, I'll bet I can cut a better 60' than you with my gay sawblades

You have one of the most popular rims for ricers to put on their cars. Your opinion is moot.

i did the hard work (lol) now it's up to you to make an account on hidplanet.com/forums. You may need the account to see the thread links. Then set up a WTB thread for blazer fogs and see if you can get your hands on some. PLUS they are only about 40 dollars if you pay market value. Anything more is a waste.

well, so far ive learned from this fog light thread that
1. sawblades are ugly
2. tvs are ricey
3. sawblades are BETTER than 90% of all aftermarket rims (yet 90% of 4th gens do NOT use them)
4. anddddd stock front wheel gap looks just fine because IT CAME WITH THE CAR!

what if you dont want stock fog lights? get a/m fog lights. yes, people have installed aftermarket fogs on their maxima.

Blazers are, IMO, the only acceptable aftermarket fogs. They still look stupid, but they are VERY functional. I'd love to have a set in my fog lights if my fog lights didn't have fresnel lines on them.

3. How can you say 90% of 4th gens don't use them? They came on the 95-96 SEs and the 97-99 GLEs, two VERY popular models.
4. The stock wheel gap does look fine. It doesn't look out of place, every other Maxima came with the same suspension. You don't look out of place. No one said it looked good or that they preferred it, though.

about that 90% statement i was referring to those on this forum. i'd say its a pretty high percentage of 4th gen posters who do not ride on stock sawblades.

also, you cant honestly believe that the wheel gap looks fine, lol. its almost as bad as my girl's '02 Galant!
