My stock Bose read 98% of CDR's. Really, the only CDR's mine would not read were ones that were scratched a good bit.

for the most part the factory cd players and cd changers will play cdr's, but they will only play cdrw's when the disk has been closed and is write protected, but cdrw's still ma mot play even if the disk is closed.

I have only had one non damaged CD ever not work in my Bose. I got that CD for free when I bought something on e-Bay so I imagine it was of pretty poor quality. So thats a pretty good percentage of burned CD's and I have played many brands.

I read a post a while back that said CDR's would damage the eye of the CD player. Is this not accurate? I never had any problem playing any CDR's before, but I stopped trying after that post.

That's gotta be one of the silliest things I've heard.

Anyways, you might try cdrlabs for more info

Ptatohed.

It sounds to me like you currently have the non-Bose cassette deck since you're asking where to get the changer unit.

If you're thinking of upgrading to the bose changer system, I believe you also need to change the speakers as well (since the amps are individual units at each speaker).

So if you have the standard OEM 1-DIN cassette deck (mine was made by Clarion), you might want to consider getting the Nissan OEM 1-DIN(Clarion-made) CD changer that hooks up to your existing cassette deck. It'll sit in the 1-DIN pocket slot right below the cassette deck.

Let me know if you need more info on the deck or the setup or problems I had (have), and yes they do play CD-Rs because all the CDs I have in there are CDRs. I have a pic of the setup also and I'll give you the link if you want to see how well the changer blends in with the center dash.

p.s.: I saw a G35 today, not bad looking but it's got a small trunk. Very prominent rear-wheel drive hump in the floo area.

Ptatohed.

http://www.nissandiscountparts.com/cdspecial.htm

They're selling brand new OEM cd changers for $199. Nissan Discount parts, haven't dealt with them before and I don't know if this is the right one, but if it's made by Clarion, and is a 1-DIN add-on changer, it's the same one that I have.

If you want part numbers, I can give them to you this weekend.

I think he's got Bose since he has a GLE.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, I do have the Bose. Maybe I should have prefaced that. Thanks for all the input. Can I still get the Bose changer at that Nissan Discount? Thanks again.

Hey thanks a mill. Sudz. I would prefer Bose/Nissan/Clarion, I'm a little iffy on the Serwood stuff. What's your opinion?
