E-Brake boot

I recently order an e-brake boot from redlinegoods.com.

I just received the e-brake boot and I'm in the process of installing it. I'm lookin at the installation guide and it says to line up the metal rod with the boot. I didn't get a metal rod. Also, it says to insert the rod in the new boot, but it doesnt look like i'll be able to insert a rod in the new boot.. Can anyone help??

With just about all aftermarket boots out there, you have to keep the old metal wire from your old boot to install in the new boot. The only exception to this that I've found is a seller that has aftermarket leather ones with the wire frame already installed. I just purchased one myself and the quality is excellent on them. Only $30.

You find one of the cuts in the new boot, and push the metal rod through.

I recently bought one of these and had to re-use the wire from my old boot. I used a razor blade to cut the wire away from the old boot. You do not need to glue or attach the wire to the new boot. Just tuck the wire inside the new boot and press it into place from underneath the console. It will snug the new boot up against the console when you snap it into place. The fit is tight enough that it will not pull out.
