No, but the org was named as a possible "safe house" for street racing. We made the decision to shut it down.

It isn't up for debate.

Safe house for street racing? There are a TON of other sites where street racing posts are all over the place (coughSRT4cough). m5board had that story where a 16 year old crashed at ~170mph. A few people whose posts can be considered as street racing is a very poor representation of the 87,564 total members on here.
Just out of curiosity, who named it "a possible safe house for street racing"?

1) There is no debate. I am not asking Patrick to reopen Weekend Battles - I know he wont and, quite frankly, I dont care, seeing as I never went there anyways.
2) The media? Great answer, just what I was looking for

you want the date and times and broadcasting stations of the reports?
i cant provide that information, sorry

there were several news reports, both televised and written, about online car forums INCITING or promoting "street racing". Maxima.org was even mentioned specifically in one of them, even though it had nothing to do with the accident.

then there were undercover journalists who registered on maxima.org to "catch" some of us talking about racing to use as ammunition for their stories. they were unsuccessful......

lol I thought "the media" was a sarcastic answer.
Thats ridiculous though, this is why I usually dont view journalists as people - they will make up the biggest load of bull to write a good story.

We really need an off topic thread where we can talk about whatever we want. The 4th gen section feels like you can only post about questions and problems with your car and get yelled at if we post off topic. A good off topic thread would be good for stories and just general messing around. Spicific to the 4th gen section though. So we can talk to each other.

Used to it. Usually laugh.

Didn't know there was a OT here, it's so far down the forums page! Usually find something else to look at before I got there.

I agree that it's ridiculous for that news article to mention maxima.org as if it's a street-racer's haven - but I also agree that the weekend battles section was a haven for idiots. Not sad that it's gone. It was worthless.

if your into street racing (endangering innocent people) then it should be kept between your friends or whoever participates in the activity.
