Mpg

Is there a way to calculate my mpg using the dash marks on the gas guage? I am scared to let it hit the empty light because i dont like to run on low gas. Anyone got a good way to find out"?

What you do is :
Fill tank, just till hose kicks off. Write down odometer reading.
drive till about 3/4 empty.
re-fill tank the same way. Write down gallons filled. Write down odo reading.
Divide miles driven by gallons.
That's Miles Per Gallon.

However miles you drove (according to the trip meter) / How many gallons you put in = mpg. The equation is in the name Miles Per Gallon.

I needed a way to find out how many gallons were used. I didn't know about the gas flow cutting off once the tank was full.

lol... You don't have to go out and spend 50 bucks to fill your tank to see ur mpg.. all you do is just divide how many gallons u put in at fill up, and how many miles you drove with that. And it comes out... For example

I am getting bad gas MPG right now... I just put in 10 bucks yesterday and went 50miles with 3 gallions of gas... That comes out to 16MPG... It is not the most super actuate way but it is right on there... OBV the best way would be to do a full tank but that just tells you that you can drive more miles with your 16 gallon tank.
